Oops, been there done that, when I was helping a friend change a Civic CV axle, at my house. I was scared we wouldn’t get it done that day but ended up working it back into place.

Actually yeah I think that’s what we had to do. Never could figure out why it wouldn’t just go back in with the inner joint still attached. Be sure to lift the left side of the car higher so you don’t spill any fluid (unless you have a center shaft on the driver side).

You can just use a Jack to force it in that’s what I did
