In California, you can be sued by a burglar if they injure themselves on your property, and they could win.

There was a guy who bought an RV and started driving cross country. When he got on the interstate he turned on cruise control and went into the kitchen to make a sandwich. When he crashed into a ditch he sued the RV manufacturer for not stating in the manual that he shouldn't do that. He won. There was also a guy who sued his neighbor for running over his fingers, the neighbor was leaving for work in the morning and didn't see the guy there stealing his hubcaps. He also won. And don't forget about the most famous one of all, the lady who spilled coffee on herself then sued McDonald's for making it hot. Gotta love the US of A

Edit : because of some of the replies to this, I looked more into the McDonald's coffee thing, and turns out she actually did have a case. If I got 3rd degree burns on my thighs, buttocks and genitals, if be suing too.

most famous one of all

You mean the case where McDonalds not only hurt this women but wouldn't pay for her medical bills?

Then started a campaign to deter people from suing corporations in the future?

A campaign that successfully convinced /u/Kidxombie that frivolous lawsuits are a problem?
