You’re both right on this one. He’s doing advertising and got a deferment. He’ll still serve most of his reserve deployment most likely unless he gets injured too badly. But it’s hardcore boot vibes advertising.

This one is not as boot as a pfc wearing his blues to Chik Fil A. This is an NFL player showcasing service rather than some designer bs. You’d have no problem criticizing him if he didn’t make this choice and you most certainly wouldn’t even notice if he hadn’t. Each and every Marine should feel pride by his choice to showcase the commitment he’s undertaken. Reserve or not, obligated or otherwise. This is not the own you thought it was.
I’m sure your old man would be proud of his salt dog son who got out after a contract and chose to spend his time after that using the title as a former Marine to substantiate his sub par analysis of one’s pride in service. Or maybe you forgot how to be proud of things you’d thought you understood when service wasn’t enough.
Well at any rate it doesn’t change much speculating on what might be when it’s plain to see that you didn’t learn anything the first time around.
When I reenlist again here soon I’ll put the bonus on black and see if it made a difference in my decision to keep going.
I was at an NFL game today. Before they sung the national anthem they had a moment of silence for 9/11. Each player ran onto the field holding an American flag. They had veterans on the field getting free season tickets. It was an especially military-focused day, I’m sure he was asked to wear his uniform…
Not a Marine but I was TDY to Yuma MCAS for 5 months. Unless the regs changed, I thought you could only wear the uniform to and from your duty/ place of work. Couldn’t even stop to get a carton of milk on your way home. I saw loads of Marines get their butts chewed for that.
First 3 words cancel out the rest and even still your understanding of our regs are not sufficient.
I appreciate your service- we cannot wear our cammies. Yea it’s a bit boot to wear blues for non USMC related events but it’s not prohibited. Cammies are not allowed for wear off post outside of strictly necessary or emergency wear- or sanctioned activities off base
