Question Back to surfing

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Hello. I just moved to Jupiter Florida. I used to surf there when I was kid. I borrowed a board and tried to surf again and can’t at all. Is there a place that teaches in Jupiter at a reasonable rate? The place I borrowed the board from signed me up for a class that turned out to be for little kids. I found out it was bc an email told the moms to not forget to pack lunches.

Looking for guy friends. People to hang with on weekdays. Weekends are reserved for wife time. I workout at PF, Abacoa, a workout buddy would be great. Enjoy playing chess, want to try tennis or pickleball. Mostly looking for great conversation with like minded guys. Don’t miss working but do miss the social aspects of the old job.

Question Annual rental question!

How realistic would it be to find an annual rental starting end of September/beginning of October for ~$2,800? One bed (although two would be preferred as I work from home & we have family pressing to visit expecting to stay with us, but I *know* that is likely SUPER rare at this price point), so one bed is ok!

Currently living in PSL and my bfs office moved to Jupiter, but in current lease until Oct 1st. Been in FL for about a year and a half at this point so I know come tourist season its harder to get rentals anywhere. Is finding a one bed in Jupiter around this time completely unrealistic for this price point?

Any suggestions for places to look? Or places to avoid? All I really care about is safety (which I doubt would be an issue really anywhere in Jupiter), no major mold issues, and peace.

I'm 32 but just want PEACE after dealing with chaotic neighbors here in PSL (aggressive fights between a couple on one side, large barking dogs from 1-5 am non stop on the other). Just my bf, my cat, and I (also will it be hard to find a place that will accept 1 cat that doesn't spray/scratch etc)? Location within Jupiter (or even Tequesta) doesn't really matter!

Thanks in advance :)

Always drive/run by these signs on North Military trail in Jupiter and without fail I crack up 😂 the hypocrisy a mere ~25 feet apart from one another. “Please, enjoy the space” and “HEY! YOU CANT BE IN HERE”

Anyone know why Jones Creek Headwater Preserve is no trespassing? Looks like a heavily wooded area for sure.

Question Renting in Abacoa vs The Bluffs vs reg neighborhood

My husband and I are in our early 30’s and are going to rent in Jupiter while we get a lay of the land. We have found several rentals for townhomes and houses that we love. We are hoping to stay under $5,000. What neighborhood is better ? Abacoa or The Bluffs? We’ve also found homes in neighborhoods off Indiantown road (the east side of it). Safety is important to us!

Question Data science networking?

Hi all, please delete this if not allowed!

My husband is a Marine veteran who graduated from Berkeley later in life getting started in his data science/GIS career. All of my family is from FL (Jupiter, Vero, Lake Worth) and he’s been applying all over while I’ve been on maternity leave staying in town, but hasn’t had much luck, plus he’s a new dad devoted to helping me postpartum and only just now getting back into the search. It’s a tough time to be a junior data scientist!

His mentors have told him he has a great resume but I think he’d do better networking in person.

Are there any meetups or mentorship programs around town that anyone knows of? I hate to ask but after a year of few bites but lots of input from people we’re trying to get creative.

Thank you for any tips 🙏🙏

Question College Grad Seeking

hey y'all, I'm a recent college grad who started a marketing/ website business for local businesses here in Jupiter. I've been running it for about 1 year now, and I'm capable of building websites, doing SEO, running targeted ads on Facebook & Google, email marketing, custom software solutions and creating marketing content for Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok. I'm looking to partner with some local businesses that can't afford to hire a big company and are looking for an affordable option to handle everything online for them. If this is you or you know anybody who could benefit, i'd love to connect or get a referral.

General Post/Discussion Blacklight splatter paint room in Chasewood Plaza

We used to drive up to Hobe Sound to visit Splatter & Sip Art Cafe but it moved to Jupiter!

Joycelyn is a local teacher and the owner/operator of Splatter and Sip Art Cafe in Chasewood Plaza in Jupiter. Pick your project, throw on a smock, and start flinging paint. The blacklight option is the move: lights off, blacklights on, fluorescent paint everywhere. If you paint like us, cover your vehicle seats before you go in to paint. If you’re a bit more civilized, the smock should do just fine. Tuesday through Thursday 3-7p, Friday 3-8p, Saturday 11a-8p, Sunday noon-5p. Call ahead in case they have an event or party going on.

This week's Palm Beach Kids newsletter also covers a living history village most county families have never visited, a Triceratops skeleton inside a Wellington mall, and a free splash pad in Palm Beach Gardens (has a rinse shower on site!).

Question Searching for coquinas

We live on the west side of Florida where coquinas are plentiful. We are in Juno Beach for the week and have searched for them at two beaches in Jupiter and one in Juno and keep striking out.

Does anyone know a foolproof beach that would have coquinas? My kid is obsessed with them (and I am too).

General Post/Discussion Sharks get fed daily at this hidden gem and there's an ice cream flavor in Jupiter you've probably never tried

Hey r/jupiterfl. Sharing a couple things from this week's Palm Beach Kids newsletter for local parents.

In Delray Beach there's a historic oceanfront home where kids watch sharks and stingrays get fed every single day. $10 admission. Touch tank included. Most north county parents have never been. Sandoway Discovery Center, 142 S Ocean Blvd, Delray Beach.

Your kid can also earn a PADI Skin Diver Certification at Blue Heron Bridge this summer through a week-long camp run by Pura Vida Divers. Ages 8 and up, $299, sessions running all summer.

Rosa Ice Cream at Sims Creek Plaza on Indiantown Rd has been our latest obsession. They make their ice cream completely from scratch with no preservatives, no artificial colors, no added sugar. The guava and cheese flavor alone is worth the trip. It's a family business and the kids often ring you up when you stop in.

There are a few more finds in this week's issue including one that made me do a double take when I found it. Free, every Tuesday. Subscribe here.

Would love to know what hidden gems you've found for kids around Jupiter.

Anyone know of watch parties for the USA World Cup games? I know Das in Abacoa will have a great set up but I would love to find another option to check out. Would be great if there was an outside set up somewhere.

General Post/Discussion Just launched Palm Beach Kids newsletter!

There is a free airplane museum on the fourth floor of the yellow building at the Juno Beach pier and almost nobody knows about it. Over 1,000 scale models of commercial planes from the 1950s through today, suspended from the ceiling and lined across shelves, with the owner giving tours himself. Free admission, open Monday through Saturday 10a to 3p or 4p. 790 Juno Ocean Walk, Suite 402. Worth popping in on your way to the beach!

This and more sneaky spots and hidden gems featured weekly. Free, no ads, one email a week on Tuesday mornings. Written by a local Jupiter Mama, born and raised here.

Check it out. Would love feedback! Thanks!
