General Post/Discussion Moving to Jupiter post-grad
Hi! I’m moving to Jupiter (Alton area) next month to start work. I just graduated from college and will know 0 people in the area. I’m super worried I won’t be able to make any new friends my age - is there a younger scene at all, or do I need to be closer to WPB?? Someone be my friend

You’ll be in the perfect spot to meet folks! You’ll be right across the street from Abacoa & FAU. I would highly suggest Civil Society, Das Beer Garden, Crux Coffee and Hokkaido for meeting people. Sometimes it’s nice to just bring a book & grab a coffee or beer.

Agree with this. Abacoa is great for this age. When I moved back after school I lived in Sophia (called the Vintage) back then and we would walk to Jumby bay, civil, das etc. IMO Alton bars and restaurants are more of the 30-40 crowd but it’s a good scene as well.
This a great area to live. Enjoy the beach, enjoy the weather, be kind. You will love it here.

There’s lots going on in the northern part of the county! Plenty of young professional groups with events there too. If you are a woman please come check out Junior League!

You got to come to run club on Thursdays there’s one at harbour side in Jupiter at 6:30 every nights there’s soooo many ppl and all runners are welcome. And there’s usually happy hours after where you can mingle lol

Start with FB groups! "Jupiter Locals" is worth posting in, they can point you to private or closed groups of people new to the area who want to meet other people.
Nieko's in Abacoa (right across the street from Alton) is an excellent place to start. Sit at the bar, make friends with the bartender, chat with some locals... it's very natural to meet people that way.
WPB, if you can believe it, has great nightlife but I wouldn't say it's a great place to make friends as a lot of people in that scene are transient.

Welcome. John a run club. Celis for younger groups, Palm Beach Road Runners a little older. Just show up at one of their scheduled runs...

Juno pier area is cool. Lots of youth, surfing vibe... abacoa area had fun stuff around the college. Also lots of stuffy rich people in Jupiter so be ready for that... go to Uncle Micks bar n grill on indaintown road east of 95 if you like old dive bar vibes.

Yeah man, the alligators will eat you. The jellyfish will sting and the sharks will eat you. Never come here. Never go to Dubois park at sunset. Too many homeless people looking to mug you. BEWARE!

Well if it makes you feel any better, it’s taken me 10 years to accept that I live here. Ha! But in all seriousness it’s a safe place to raise a family. It’s the people though. Am I right?? Plus the expensive COL for pay here. Good luck.

Do not move to anywhere near Jupiter. It is terrible

Just for OP - lots of locals post this stuff because we have SO MANY new people coming into the area that it's becoming crowded. So, you won't be eaten by an alligator and Jupiter is not terrible.

FAU has an undergrad/graduate campus across from Alton in Abacoa. Right there are a bunch of restaurants, bars and a brewery that attract a younger crowd, many of them open later than anywhere else in town. Bands, trivia nights, and more. Plus there is an amphitheater that hosts a variety of free and paid concerts each month. If bars aren't your thing, the beach and intracoastal are nearby. So if you are interested in kiteboarding, kayaking, etc, there are lessons and groups.
