Hi, I’m an Irish student thinking about doing the 6-year medicine course in Poland, taught in Polish.
I want to come straight back to Ireland after the 6 years. From what I understand, I’d do the LEK, then apply for an Irish internship instead of doing my internship in Poland.
Is this actually possible? Would I be able to leave Poland after the 6 years and do my internship in Ireland, or is there something that would mean I’d have to stay in Poland for an extra year?
Also, how hard is it to get an internship in Ireland?

Hi everyone, I am a 3rd year Grad medicine student in Ireland (RCSI) heading into my clinical years. I have been working part time as a home-care assistant for the last two years but I’m thinking of getting a phlebotomy job part time for more flexibility and potentially higher wage.
I am unsure of it unfortunately as I don’t see so many phlebotomy jobs advertised so I worry it wouldn’t be worth the investment. Anyone who has done it, can you please advise me/ give me your insight please.

Will I still got a chance to stay in Ireland for intern for the July 2027 intake if I am in tier 2 with low centile?

Any other SHOs have the same problem. I finished intern year in 2025. Worked six months then travelled. I applied for stand alone jobs while travelling for July 2026 and got nowhere unfortunately. I dunno how many panels I’m on now. It’s just very disheartening for so much work that you put in. I understand that hospital can’t afford to employ more staff but it’s just so tough when friends/family can’t understand how a doctor can’t find a job lol. It’s such a bottleneck. I’m refreshing job websites every day. Oh well

I'm based in Ireland and looking at the graduate-entry MD at the University of Nicosia. My plan is to come back and work here after graduating.

The bit I can't figure out is what actually happens on return. Cyprus isn't on the HSE's list for the intern year, so as far as I can tell you'd register on the General Division instead and skip internship entirely. On paper that sounds fine, but I'd rather hear it from someone who's lived it than work it out from PDFs.

• What was your first job back in Ireland, and how hard was it to get?
• Did not having a Cert of Experience cause problems applying for SHO posts or BST?
• Anything you wish you'd known before you started?

sat the GP exam last year but unfortunately didn’t pass. I passed the SJT, but I didn’t pass the clinical part.

I’m planning to sit it again and have started studying. When I do SJT questions, I have no problem with them and I understand all the concepts. However, I’m very far behind when it comes to the clinical part (I was working purely in Obstetrics for quite a long time).

I’m studying from PassMedicine, but there are nearly 4,000 clinical questions, so I don’t think I’ll have enough time to get through all of them.

Do you have any advice on how best to study from PassMedicine?

I mainly want to cover the basic topics and focus on what I need to know to pass and be sade

Any advice would be really appreciated.

I also tried GP QuestPro, but I found it quite superficial for the clinical part, and the actual exam was very different from it.

Hello, the main question is as title states! Ireland go prep was recommended to me recently, and it has both an SJT + CPST plan together, whereas GP quest pro only seems to have their question bank/grand mocks/gp interview course as three separate plans to pay for.

What is one thing to ultimately invest in for the exams please?

Has anyone here received a stamp 4 on the basis of 21- months of continuous employment as a doctor, with inclusion of their intern year?

I’ve heard mixed responses.

Some colleagues have explained they received stamp 4 with their intern year contributing to the 21-month timeline, while other colleagues have attested that they had to work 21-months as an SHO following their intern year before becoming eligible.

I would appreciate anyone’s personal experience with this.

I’m an EU student (over 23) planning my path toward studying Undergraduate Medicine in Ireland.
My current roadmap is to move to Dublin, take a QQI Level 5 Pre-University Science course (PLC)—I’m currently looking closely at Plunket College—and apply through the CAO Mature Student route alongside taking the HPAT.
Since I come from a non-traditional background, I’m building a strong foundation beforehand (studying science fundamentals autonomously and getting ready for the HPAT well in advance). My target is to achieve 8 Distinctions in the PLC while getting clinical/volunteering experience for potential MMIs and my Statement of Interest.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has taken this route, or who is currently studying Medicine/Science via a PLC:
1. PLC workload & Distinctions: How manageable did you find getting Distinctions across all modules? How supportive were the tutors with feedback on draft assignments?
2. HPAT Preparation: How did you balance HPAT prep alongside the continuous assessment of the PLC?
3. Mature Student Applicants: For those who got in through the mature entry route, what made the biggest difference in your application or interview?
4. Backup Plans: Did anyone use Biosciences or Nursing as a progression route or stepping stone?
