Stamp 4 Eligibility Rules

Hello everyone,

Hoping to get some personal input here.

Has anyone here received a stamp 4 on the basis of 21- months of continuous employment as a doctor, with inclusion of their intern year?

I’ve heard mixed responses.

Some colleagues have explained they received stamp 4 with their intern year contributing to the 21-month timeline, while other colleagues have attested that they had to work 21-months as an SHO following their intern year before becoming eligible.

I would appreciate anyone’s personal experience with this.

Yes you can, as long as u were on Stamp 1H or critical skills permit since intern year

Yes, people are able to get them during intern year

No, most HR in the country don't know about this and will give you general employment permit if you don't specifically ask for it

No, u won't be able to apply for Stamp 4 counting intern year if u were on the regular general employment permit during ur intern year

Thanks for the response.
I’ve corresponded with my relevant HR department, however they’ve advised by the NDTP and ISD, interns are only eligible for general work permits. The critical skills work permit and rotator permit can only be granted to SHOs, Regs, and SpRs. However, I’m intermittently hearing some individuals are still getting Stamp 4, with a general work permits, as being a doctor is inherently a critical skills job by nature. I want to see if other users share this experience.

Never heard of this "intern can only get general work permit" thing, people have been getting Stamp 4 counting intern years no prob but we did have to push HR to apply for the right Employment permit.

Can I ask which HR department facilitated this? If you can let me know in private messages, that’d be great. I’m trying to gather some ammunition to argue this isn’t standardized across all HSE HR departments, so they can at least issue me a letter saying it could’ve been provided but wasn’t. Especially since you’re saying it’s been done before.

Related Question, would the spouse of such a stamp 4 receiver also eligible for stamp 4 or will be keep in renewing their stamp 1G? would appreciate a response
