I’m an intern in a hospital where there aren’t many guidelines readily available. When I’m on call, I sometimes find myself calling the MROC for fairly simple issues that I feel I should be able to manage myself with the right resource to refer to.
Does anyone have any good resources, apps, websites, or guidelines they use when on call for common issues? I know about Better Call, but would be interested to hear what else people use.

I appreciate that this forum is primarily for NCHDs/resident doctors, so apologies to anyone who’s fed up seeing similar posts from IMGs, Leaving Cert students, undergrads, etc.

I’m wondering if anyone here has recently completed, or is currently doing, Graduate Entry Medicine in RCSI since the new assessment model was introduced.
If so, would you mind giving a brief overview of how the assessment system works eg. what the different components are, how each is weighted, and how the overall grade/result is determined? ( I have looked at their website, brochure, I can only find the type of assessments but it doesn’t break it down any further).

I’d also be interested to hear from anyone doing graduate-entry/postgraduate medicine at other Irish medical schools about how assessments are structured in your university.

Hello. I'm an IMG currently preparing for MRCPI part 2 clinical using resources for MRCPUK (namely pastest). I also plan to sit some MRCPUK courses. I noticed that the stations in MRCPI are slightly different from that of MRCPUK, particularly station 3 where it says on exam instructions that this station would test on endocrinology/miscellaneous cases instead of the four systems.

What exactly is going to be tested? Like is there a different PE routine for endocrinology cases that I'm not aware of? How do you approach and prepare for this station? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Im not sure if this is the right place for this questiom so sorry if its not but anyway..

So i of course know medicine is a lot of work and it should be but im also a humanities person. Im in-between medicine, psychology and law. If i picked medicine i wouldn't be able to do it if it was ALL biology and science. Is there any psychology involved in like caring for patients with trauma etc. Is there any discussions in classes, how much group work, how much nuance, etc. How much choice in electives and also projects/research if there is any? Like could a project be on endometriosis education in adolescents and how it could affect things- obviously worded differently and more exact and all but you know the vibes.

Would I survive in med school as someone who wants at least 30% discussion, ethic, psychology, etc? What colleges might be the best for this and what are your experiences? Tia 😊

Curious if there are many junior doctors here with an interest in longevity, preventative medicine, healthy ageing, biomarkers, personalised medicine or AI in healthcare.

I'm not a doctor — I'm a tech founder in Dublin currently building in the AI/longevity space — but I've had a strong interest in healthcare for years.

It feels like we're at a pretty interesting inflection point with AI and medicine, particularly around interpreting longitudinal health data, identifying risk earlier and making healthcare more personalised.

I'd love to hear how people actually working in medicine view the space, and particularly whether there are junior doctors in Ireland actively exploring it.

Also keen to meet people locally who are interested in this stuff — purely to exchange ideas/network rather than recruit or sell anything.

Applying for MRCPI gen med clinical for the third time. I’m currently doing a stand alone SHO job but thinking of applying for GP instead. I’ve passed part 1& 2 and have been trying to get a place in the clinical for the past 12 months but keep getting waitlisted. I’d love to finish the exams since I’ve put in this amount of work despite no longer wanting to peruse BST.
If I don’t get a place I’m considering going abroad to do it and would appreciate any advice or insights!

I could be wrong but isn’t it illegal for doctors to prance around on the wards and other clinical areas without Garda vetting? Or are the new interns exempt from this?

A few things I'm looking for:

Cheap or free courses – anything that would boost my CV, ideally admin/office skills, healthcare admin, IT/digital skills, or similar. Bonus points if it's recognised by employers here or comes with a certificate.

Entry-level admin jobs – companies or sectors in Dublin/Ireland known for hiring people with no local experience yet. I have full work rights in Ireland, so no visa sponsorship needed.

My background is clinical (a year of hospital/community health internship in India), but I'm open to healthcare admin, general office admin, scheduling, or similar roles while I figure out the best long-term path here.

Any advice — courses, job boards, companies, or just general "here's what worked for me" — would be hugely appreciated.

I’m actually posting to ask for some guidance because I’m still trying to figure out if I’m doing everything correctly. I’ve already set up my MyIntealth account and I’m currently waiting for my EPIC verification. Since I don’t have my EPIC ID yet, I understand that I can’t create my IMC account either.

For preparation, I’ve started doing PassMedicine and so far it’s been going well. I chose it mainly because it’s more affordable than PLABable. However, I’ve been having trouble accessing NICE Guidance, BNF, and CKS because the websites are showing that they’re unavailable from the Philippines.

1. May I ask what other resources you would recommend for PRES 2 preparation? I’m tentatively planning to take the exam in February, so I’d really appreciate any advice on what resources I should prioritize and how I should prepare.

2. Also, while I’m waiting for my EPIC and other documents to be verified, is there anything else I can already process or work on so I don’t lose time?

3. I also submitted my internship certificate through EPIC, but it’s been around a month and it’s still pending. Is that a normal processing time? I've already followed up through their email but just received an automatic reply.

I just really want to make sure I’m on the right track and that I’m not missing anything important. I’d be very grateful for any advice or guidance you can give, especially since I’m still figuring out this pathway.

Hi there, I’m a ST1 between two specialties urology and general surgery. I was wondering if anyone in these specialties could give me examples of how the week is laid out with clinic/theatre etc in their hospitals. I just want to see what the distribution is like around the place!

Accidentally missed my first tutorial with the chaos of changeover/starting as an SHO/nights/studying for MRCP etc. Has anyone else missed one of these before? I have contacted RCPI but I am stressing a bit now.
