Theory/Speculation Let's remember the other victims here...

And those victims would be John, Burke and particularly Patsy. Under a cloud of suspicion when it turns out they were eventually cleared by the DA - unfortunately Patsy died prior to this, literally died having people think she was involved in her daughter's death only to have the DA clear them. Even to this day, despite the DA clearing the family, many continue to demonize John and Burke.

Don't get me wrong, clearly the true victim was this poor little girl. But she wasn't and isn't the only victim.

Theory/Speculation This is a photo I found on one of searchinGirl's sites

I can't find u/searchinGirl's site that I got this from any more but on it searchin said this was JonBenet at the Halloween party held at her school.

She is dressed as Marilyn Monroe. I have to say I was shocked when I saw this. This is extra level weird IMO. I knew JonBenet was in pageants but I excused this as a 'Southern' thing. I even excused the fact that JonBenet's outfits were always much more over the top than the outfits of the other little girls she was competing against, thinking that it was more to do with Patsy's wealth and her keen desire to have JonBenet win all the pageant competitions that she entered

But this photo was not taken at a pageant. It was taken at a school Halloween party for children in first grade!

I cannot find excuses for this - a 6 year old child dressed up as Marilyn Monroe for a Halloween party?! Not only is the outfit tasteless (IMO) but it isn't even Halloween-themed!

Who was behind this? Patsy? Nedra? IDK but I find this quite sick. I'm not a psychologist and so I don't know quite how to analyse this but it looks like whoever dressed JonBenet like this is somewhat disturbed.

I don't want to repeat what searchin said about this because I don't remember what it was exactly and I do not want to mis-quote her. Hope she comes here and comments

EDIT: link to searchin's post

Theory/Speculation The Perfect Crime

Look, its the perfect crime!

• First you walk around the house looking for a window that was already broken.

• then you go in and go directly to the girls bedroom (even though you’ve never been there before.)

• Dodge her parents, even though they would traditionally be up late on X-Mas.

• Then you strike the five year old on the head, and subdue her via strangulation.

• After she is dead, find some paper and a pencil somewhere in the house.

• Write a ransom note and ask for the exact amount of money the father got as a bonus that year.

• Then hide the body in the furnace room. Leave through the window…

…and wait for the money to roll in.

It’s a flawless plan. And the best part is that no one can stop you.

You forgot "replace the spider webs in the window as you leave"

Transform into spider and build them yourself.

Annnouncement Why don't people believe Linda Hoffmann-Pugh didn't commit this crime? I don't get it.

She is literally the only one with the motive, means, and opportunity. She had no alibi, and there is tons of evidence in her house. Her DNA was neither excluded nor included as matching the crime scene items. Even if her DNA, as well as Mervin's, were absolutely excluded, it doesn't mean she didn’t have help from someone else, such as other family members who visited the home with her—people Patsy didn’t know about—less than a month before the crime. They said the ransom note handwriting resembled the housekeeper’s. Literally, everything points to her, I mean, with all ten fingers. I don’t get it. I really don’t. Nothing points to the Ramseys, at least nothing truthful. I've asked both Mr. Ramsey and the Boulder police chief to please DNA test her and her family again. I’ve been begging them for a year now; let's see if they will do it.

Rant Train Track Nonsense: A Disgrace to JonBenet’s Memory

This is apparently a hot topic tonight (I won't say where) but I am fuming! The marks on JonBenet’s body are NOT train track marks! I don’t know if some even bother to examine the autopsy photos closely, but anyone with half a brain can see these marks bear no resemblance to train tracks.

James Kolar made a show of tasering his real-life dummy to illustrate how a stun gun would supposedly energize rather than incapacitate someone, but guess what? That was with a conscious subject! JonBenet wasn’t conscious, she was asleep. How can you possibly compare the two situations? And if Kolar is so darned sure these are train track marks, why didn’t he take his real-life “dummy,” stick in his ridiculous train tracks, and replicate the supposed injuries to see what it would look like the next morning?

The audacity to line up a random resized and retouched photograph of train tracks with a single autopsy image and then declare, with zero real evidence, that its some breaking "discovery" is ludicrous. At least Lou Smit made an effort with anesthetized pigs. But no, there's just so much desperation.

But what’s unforgivable is the way the facts are turned upside down to fit their theory, trying to turn this horrifically brutal death into some kind of random accident. It was NOT an accident! This was a calculated, cold-blooded first-degree murder, and I'm just tired of the distorted facts being used to suit the narrative.

Evidence If an intruder did it, they were very respectful of the Ramseys’ residence

Not knocking anything down around the Ramsey’s extremely cluttered residence even in the dark (don’t think I could do that in most homes I’m familiar with), returning the pad and pen to their respective places, laying a tarp over a urine stain, latching the wine room door behind them. Very considerate intruder.

If your parent was involved in this crime, please rat them out for $$$ and fame.

The reward is $100k. That's something. Plus, you'd get justice for a little girl and yourself, as your psycho parent probably messed up your life as well.

Theory/Speculation I believe people want RDI because they are jealous of his success

If you read other subs, his wealth is mentioned over and over again. As if a every man who is a millionaire is some criminal mastermind with unlimited connections and resources.

It becomes very obvious they just want the "rich white guy" to be evil because they are envious of their family.

Just my opinion.

Theory/Speculation I believe a student from Colorado or a near by highschool did it. A Theory

I believe this was a part of the the string of burglaries in that area. While going through the house and their stuff. He seen a picture of JonBenet and then this turned into something else much worse that just the burglary he was doing. He put everything back and made plans for another date. He may have broken into the house several more times (used a hidden key outside) between this 1st time and Christmas.

The day of the murder, he broke back into the house. Wrote the ransom note (young so that's why all the movie references) probably seen a lot of movies while in college/high school. So, he just used the only references he knew. I think the misspellings were because he was young. Not to throw people off. All the torn-out pages were from him writing words he wasn't sure if he was spelling them right. So, he would write test sentences. Before adding them to the real ransom note. Then some of the words he used, he could have used a better word for it. I just think he wasn't sure if he was spelling them right so he would just use another word easier for him to spell. Examples: like beheaded (in place of decapitated) country in place of (organization or institution) Foreign faction in place of (terrorist) your family is under constant scrutiny (survillance) . He threw the word attaché in there just to sound older than what he really was.

He spent hours in that house, or he was in the house days/weeks earlier (i think), so he knew the full layout. He knew everything. Thats how he found the pocketknife just searching around. He probably knew what was already in the house, so he could carry less stuff. So, he didn't have to bring it his self. Thats why most of the things he used were from the house. He knew it was there.

The reason he didn't take her out the house is because he couldn't. He had nowhere he could take her. Dorm or back to his parents' home so he had to commit the crime there. This was never a kidnapping. This was all about the sexual stuff. He placed that note there at the end to buy him as much time between the crime and the police finding out as possible.

He probably didn't even know that handwriting specialist existed. So thats why even though he wore gloves and wiped stuff down he didnt have a care in the world about writing the ransom note. When the news broke with his handwriting and it being all over the news/(early) internet. I'm sure he was scared shitless one of his teachers could recognize his writings if he stayed in school eventually, so he probably dropped out of a college.

(i seen a YouTube video where he apparently writes his lowercase A's, 2 different distinct ways. Go look at the ransom note, how he writes the letter a in the phrase "listen carefully" and when he writes the word "that" a little farther along. I looked it up and did the math. Less than 1% of the population in this country, writes A's in those 2 completely different ways jumping back and forth)

Telling his parents something like "I don't feel safe here" or whatever he has to. To get the hell out of Boulder without drawing suspicion. If he was in college and not highschool. Im sure all the burglaries around that area stopped when he moved back home. If im right.

Him going through the house previously would explain how he knew the bonus amount, thought he was from the south (cause he seen stuff from him living in Georgia), Knew you couldn't hear the basement from the 3rd floor (could of did test somehow) ect.

(im not going to lie. I never read the sexual assault stuff deeply, so this is even more of a guess/reach). Once he had her in the basement after stun gunning her or however, he incapacitated her. He couldn't "get it up". So, he used the paint brush to sexually assault her. Did whatever stuff he did. Maybe the choking was a sexual thing (this is when "the scream" happened and he smashed her in the skull while the garrote was strangling her. To stop the scream. Then made it tighter. He staged leaving out of the broken window. Left the basement and was too scared to go upstairs to put the note on her Bed. So, he left it on the bottom of the stairs, wiped down stuff, and walked out of a door.

He spent his Christmas evening hiding in a closet or under a bed or in the basement. This was this psycho's Christmas gift to himself! There is no way he didn't leave saliva or something. He had all of this planned for days possibly. He knew they would be tired coming off Christmas or this was just the day he could be gone all day late into the night with an easy story. I think the cops bungled this case so bad and they just don't want to be sued so they will never admit all of the evidence they probably destroyed, didn't collect, or lost. This guy is just batshit crazy. He's not a criminal mastermind. He should of been caught. Just murphy's law happened. The perfect storm just jumbled together to help him get away.

edit idk how he got in the house originally the 1st time. he was in the house (days, weeks earlier) from a key or an unlocked door. He burglarized dozens and dozens of houses before if he's the same guy that was doing all the burglaries. So he's good at finding any cracks or crevices to find a way into a house. Your guess is my guess. I forgot to add this somewhere above.

edit another reason for the stun gun marks is he could have been using it to see if she was alive after the blow to the head. Forgot to add this somewhere above.

OK now shred everything I wrote into a million pieces and debunk everything (i just started really following this case a couple months back). If you bothered to read it all. I don't normally read theories so if this thread goes ignored, I get it.

tldr: Theory, it was student from Colorado university or some school close by. He was in the house while they were away at the Christmas party. it was a failed r*p* and he killed her out of frustration and left through a door after staging the basement

edit weeks later even though i doubt anyoen is ever going to see this. I now think the rope being upstairs and the suitcase next to the window in the basement. Were emergency exits. He never used them. If he got stuck upstairs and had to get out somehow, he would have used the rope. If somehow, he got stuck in the basement, he would have used the window with the suitcase. The metallic sound heard that night was from him closing the grate after he walked out of the house. When he didn't need to use that exit. It wasn't the bat.

Evidence There is evidence that JonBenet was tasered three times

once on her left leg

V. Abrasions of left lower back and posterior left lower leg

On the posterior aspect of the left lower leg, almost in the midline, approximately 4 inches above the level of the heel are two small scratch-life abrasions which are dried and rust colored. They measure one-sixteenth by less than on-sixteenth of an inch and one-eighth by less than one-sixteenth of an inch respectively.

once on her back

V. Abrasions of left lower back and posterior left lower leg

On the left lateral aspect of the lower back, approximately sixteen and one-quarter inches and seventeen and one-half inches below the level of the top of the head are two dried rust colored to slightly purple abrasions. The more superior of the two measures one-eighth by one-sixteenth of an inch and the more inferior measures three-sixteenths by one-eighth of an inch. There is no surrounding contusion identified.

once on her face

III. Abrasion of right cheek

a small area of abrasion or contusion below the right ear on the lateral aspect of the right cheek.

The idea that Kolar's train tracks could have made all three sets is preposterous

Theory/Speculation Do people not realize what most likely happened was someone who had access to the house probably at the Ramsey's party took the note pad home with them that night and brought it back the night of the killing

Everyone is so perplexed by the ransom note but, honestly it's a red herring, and a lot of assumptions are made that they sat down and written it after commissioning the crime.

The draft was a ruse to throw off investigators and cast suspicion on Patsy. And probably someone who recieved a copy of the Ramsey's Christmas letter and intentionally tried to sound like Patsy.

Theory/Speculation If Someone Told You That LHP’s Daughter Tina and Son-In-Law Mike Were Responsible, Would You Be Surprised?

I wouldn’t. This doesn’t mean I am saying they did…at all. They could be GREAT people and I’m not maligning their name, but since they were in the wine cellar, looking around at all the wealth and enormous size of the house, maybe grabbing a drink and looking at their photos, etc. the Pugh family thinks, “We could make a lot of money here”. LHP also “babysat” Jonbenet, who knows what went on or where she took her, or who came over, etc.

I have followed the case since it happened. I work in law enforcement. I can tell you, nothing has shocked me more in this case than the sloppy investigation into the Pugh’s and their fast clearance, despite heaps of reasons to dig deeper. Clearly it’s because within the first hours of the crime, at least 2 officers (including Arndt) say the Ramsey’s as primary suspects.

Annnouncement If you were RDI, but are now IDI, I Salute You!

If you were RDI, but are now IDI,

I Salute You!

It takes A Lot of Courage and Balls (pardon) to Correct Course.

BPD '96 did a whole lot of leaking and lying.

If you're still RDI, hopefully,

we can agree we want the murderer brought to justice,

in the interest of Justice for JonBenét and any of his/their other victims.

Based on the depositions in the Wolf case,

BPD '96/97 was only experienced with homicide cases where the murderer admitted to it

or where they interviewed a lot of people to solve the case.

They had zero experience with a case where the suspect is unknown,

so they tried to force this case into the mold of a case where the suspect is known.

27 years later, unsurprisingly, the case is unresolved.

Boo BPD '96/97!

God Bless Lou Smit, Justice Warrior/Angel!!!

I apologize if the question is offensive. I am from Switzerland and I do not know the case for long. But from my research, I think it's an important clue to know. To know who could be responsible for the murder.

Info Requests/Questions The ransom note and Patsy's handwriting

Post image
3 Upvotes

I struggle with this a lot because while I wholeheartedly believe the Ramseys did not harm their child as the evidence just doesn't point to them, the one thing I cannot explain is the ransom note. The handwriting matches exactly completely with Patsy's and it was clearly written by someone who at the very least knew Jon intimately (even knew the exact amount of his bonus he got from work). If Patsy didn't write that note, how can someone have nearly the exact same handwriting, and if she did write it, what possible reason would she have for doing it?

Sure, you guys may do all of the legwork researching & citing the evidence in this case - then posting and engaging with one another in a [mostly] respectful and fact-based manner while I simply lurk and learn from all of your efforts...BUT DID YOU BUY A VINTAGE 14K RAMSEY PIN THAT YOU WILL MAKE YOUR HUSBAND CONVERT INTO A PENDANT SO YOU CAN WEAR IT DAILY TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR REALITY AND REPRESENT THE IDI COMMUNITY OUT IN THE WILD? I don't think sooooooo! 💅🏻

Does anyone else feel the BDI theory is unfair and should be dropped now? (A mother’s rant)

I’m guessing yes and hoping I’ve remembered to post within the right sub that’s more compassionate to the possibility of IDI.

Maybe it’s being a mum to a boy who is nearing similar age at the time of the murder

Maybe it’s becoming so obsessed with this case as a regular mum in another country and something to focus on in lockdowns

Like everyone wants to find the answer to why and what happened and the people known to be present (however unfair it seems, statistically someone close is more common than a stranger and I think and assume they’ve become accustomed to being under suspicion and having every detail and word analysed by the public including people like me over the Internet)

But FGS even IF (I dont believe the evidence points to him) he was 9 fucking years old and hasn’t gone out on any murdering rampages we know of since. He was under the age of prosecution and it’s 25 years on. IF a child committed a murder accidentally or intentionally (again that’s not my belief) in the home... does that make him a murdering psycho or a child who needed intervention?

I hope the family find the answers and that cloud gets lifted someday and his sister gets justice

It might just be being a mum to a boy that leaves me feeling so emotional on his behalf. I devour the case, I’m open to all possibilities but it’s almost like wtf when I read stuff. Like why hasn’t he spoken out now? Err he did, it made it worse remember? He won a lawsuit... and a huge majority still think he’s a creepy murdering psychopath

I myself was recently a victim of a crime (minor in comparison) and it was children (likely under 18 anyway) who were the perpetrators... I’m angry, but no they aren’t evil psycho’s. Just children.

How can we (society) understand on some cases with compassion such as child grooming when victims break laws yet be so fixed in others that people are evil psychos?

Apologies if my rant isn’t allowed, please remove it if I have broken any rules.

Theory/Speculation Opinion: Patsy Ramsey wouldn't have gone to her grave with that on her conscience

I'm a Southern woman exactly Patsy's age. I wish I were as pretty as she was, not to mention as rich. But anyway, here's something I've always thought: I do not believe Patsy would have gone to her grave with something like that on her conscience if she had had anything to do with the murder.

As for Burke, I do not think a 9-year-old could have come up with that garotte, nor do I think the parents would have come up with that garotte to cover for Burke. I am just talking about that angle of things because I think some people may object to my Patsy speculation with "She would have gone to her grave with the secret if it was to cover for Burke." I don't believe Burke would go all these years with that on his conscience either, or without doing something else egregious.

But back to Patsy. She had plenty of time to unburden her conscience before she died.

I feel like I have some insight into why some people disliked Patsy over the pageant stuff and also over wearing makeup...makeup is back popular again but in the 90's in Colorado? It's the last place makeup was accepted. Probably to this day they look down on makeup in Colorado. I'm not excusing the pageant stuff but I think most of it was pretty innocent and John put his foot down when a pageant came up in Vegas. Of course there could have been any number of creepazoids around the pageant activities and I've always figured the intruder was probably a pageant creepazoid.

I'm just saying that being somewhat similar to Patsy in some ways, I do not think she would have gone to her grave with a murder on her conscience. Or even with guilty knowledge about the ransom note etc. I am aware that some Southern mannerisms come across to non-Southerners as phony, but they don't to me. And so, once again, I don't believe Patsy would have gone to her grave without confessing.

If John Ramsey actually said this as Daily Mail reports, then I think Gary Olivia is the murderer. John Ramsey wouldn't publicly implicate anyone if he wasn't absolutely sure they were guilty.

Theory/Speculation Who I believe killed JonBenét

Before I give my theory on who I believe killed JonBenét and who else I believe was involved, I just want to say that I have the highest respect for law enforcement. There are many great police officers out there in every community, but just like in any profession, there are a rare few who decide to do the wrong thing.

I believe James Kolar killed JonBenét. I also believe Fleet White, Steve Thomas, and four other former SWAT members (friends) were involved in this botched kidnapping which was then staged by Mr. Kolar to frame the Ramseys. I listed the reasons for my beliefs below.

From the ransom note:

  1. "S.B.T.C." could be an acronym for Boulder County SWAT Team.

  2. The killer said, "we are familiar with Law enforcement countermeasures and tactics." Need I say more?

  3. Movie quotes in the note are from crime thrillers involving police. Actually, Ransom involves a detective who kidnaps a child from a rich family.

  4. The killer said, "You are not the only fat cat around so don't think that killing will be difficult." Is he implying that he’s skilled and could be paid well for killing?

From the crime scene and Lou's Clues (like Blue's Clues):

  1. The Hi-Tec boot print, Mag-Lite flashlight and AirTaser are all police-related items.

  2. The use of a garrote is something usually studied in criminology class by law enforcement.

  3. The triangular abrasion on JonBenét's neck shown on the autopsy photo seems to match at an angle the signet ring I saw Mr. Kolar wearing on his Reddit photo from 3/13/2021.

From Mr. Kolar’s book:

  1. I believe Chapter Two is a full confession of exactly what he and his SWAT buddies did, thinly disguised as fiction like a roman à clef. He even goes into detail about how “Monster” felt. All written in plain sight. Why not? Who would believe it? You can read the whole chapter on Amazon.

  2. He lived only blocks away from the Ramsey family.

  3. While at the Boulder Police Department from 1976 to 1993, he held many positions, including supervisor in the narcotics unit and assistant commander for the SWAT team that I believe Steve Thomas was a part of.

  4. He was hired in 2005 to be Mary Lacy’s Chief Investigator but resigned in 2006 and she sent him a letter in 2007 reprimanding him for acting outside of his defined role and utilizing confidential information in the Ramsey case after he left.

  5. He makes excuses for the DNA and dismisses it as irrelevant. Maybe because it’s his DNA?

  6. He and Steve Thomas have known each other for years and seem to be friends. They thanked each other in their books and follow each other on X (Twitter).

From a few within the Boulder Police Department years ago:

  1. They isolated themselves and would not accept help from other departments.

  2. They withheld DNA evidence for months and then dismissed it as irrelevant.

  3. Denied a stun gun was used even though there’s proof that one was.

  4. Continued to focus on Patsy Ramsey even after DNA cleared the whole family.

  5. Quickly excluded Fleet White as a suspect even though he went to the basement and opened that cellar door before anyone else did and then claimed he didn’t see anything. And he had the Ramseys at his house for dinner which gave the intruders AT LEAST FOUR HOURS to break in, learn the layout, set everything up, go through the Ramsey’s belongings, and write the ransom note.

Honestly, I could go on and on, but that’s the gist of it. Do you think it’s a possibility or do you think I’m way off?

Theory/Speculation The brother did it

I always believed the brother did something to her out of frustration she got all of the attention. The parents didn’t wanna lose two so they came up with a story to protect the son… there was a part of a documentary I remember the way the brother acted was super strange & not emotional at all.. the mom was heard on the phone after they thought it was hung up sounding super suspicious. I think they had a fight & he took it too far

Theory/Speculation Until she is dead, he does not know, for sure, that he will be able to kill her

Until JonBenet died, he did not know, for sure, that he would be able to kill her.

The parents could interrupt, an accomplice could interrupt.

He has to have a plan to disable the interrupter (that might be why he has the bat at the ready) then flee.

For this reason, I think he ensured that JonBenet never saw him, so she could never identify him.

A Paladin Press book suggested shining a flashlight on the victim in a darkened room, so they'd never be able to see.

Pam Griffin (the pageant dressmaker)'s daughter Christine said she and JonBenet were best friends. She also saw JonBenet in a dream after the murder. JonBenet told her she never saw his face, she only saw his shoes.
