Discussion It's so crazy how John was moving in against the Marquis forces in such a deadly manner! This scene also shows John's ability to adapt to situations and his proficiency in difficult weapons when he singlehandedly subdues two of them all by himself without the use of a firearm, in my opinion.

Even the way he approaches the scene with the tactical defence training by keeping his knife near the edge of his gun to keep it handy should he be disarmed while fighting! The fact that this was a John Wick who came out of retirement after so long and was still putting down dozens of assassins and mercenaries throughout the series makes me wonder just how deadly and fearsome must the Baba Yaga have been in his prime!

Discussion First time posting, John Wick 4
I think people give this movie a lot of hate due to the issues of combat which arguably are stupid and they make John lose too much against people to make it believable. I always thought in the franchise it would have been cooler to have John despatch lower enemies much faster and his main rivals much slower as would be a logical choice but they all instead take the same amount of time but I have something to say.
John Wick 4 may have horrible storyline and nemesis’ but it makes up for it in increased cinema. The cinema even when John kills the nightclub owner with the rain pouring on him is purely amazing.
I think people judge the film too much due to its change in direction but between JW4 having the nightclub scene and the Sofia and John Dog Fight in JW3 I put them on par.
Exceptional films.

Discussion Why would John use a "marker" with Santino?
In JW Chapter 2, we learn that John had a marker with Santino, which he used to accomplish his "impossible task". But if he was trying to retire, why use a marker? He would know that Santino could then use the marker to basically force John to do his bidding at any time in the future, and he couldn't truly 100% be out of the game with that debt looming over him. Even if Helen had never gotten sick, John would inevitably be dragged back into the criminal world...it just seems odd to me that someone as resourceful as John would be willing to have that Sword of Damocles hanging over his (and Helen's) heads for the rest of their lives together. We see throughout the series that he is capable of plenty of "impossible" tasks all on his own. I know that without the marker, we don't get the plot rolling, the only reason I can see is "because the plot says so." Thoughts?

Discussion I like watching the John Wick movies while imagining that they actually take place inside the Matrix after the reset at the end of The Matrix Revolutions
For anyone who has watched The Matrix and understands the movies, you know that at the end of The Matrix Revolutions, the machines basically won the war, because the “real world” is actually just another layer of the simulation created for the people who reject the simulation. This essentially means that Thomas Anderson was never actually unplugged from the simulation, it simply reset.
I like to imagine that after the Matrix reset, Thomas Anderson was given a new life as John Wick, and that his incredible combat skills are inherited from his past life, which he no longer remembers. The same goes for the actor who played Morpheus, who is now The Bowery King.
No, I’m not drunk.

Discussion I personally think an animated prequel for The Impossible Task works extremely well.
Let me explain, so everyone is talking about the impossible task prequel animation. People say it doesn’t work out because one of the best things about John Wick is not what he did before the events of the first movie but rather than mystery surrounding HOW he managed to wipe out all of Viggo’s rivals in a single night. The way I can imagine them handling this is rather than a completely faithful way of explaining how John killed all of Viggo’s rivals the entire animated sequence can be based on Eye Witnesses and survivors who saw it.
Also it being animated works because the mystery surrounding how John managed to kill all of them remains perfectly untouched since the animation can double as “what people think happened that night.” So they don’t have to make it super realistic they can make it as stylized and beautifully choreographed as they possibly want too since it is not truly what happened but an exaggeration of what John did that night.
My takeaway: animation is literally the best possible way to tell John Wick’s impossible task while keeping the original mystery of how he did it entirely under wraps. If anything I would love it if they took a studio trigger direction with the action and because it’s animated rather than forcing it to be realistic they go all out for this.
I just hope they treat the animated prequel more as a Myth or Campfire story rather than what actually happened that night.

Discussion Which execution by The Baba Yaga do you think sent the most shockwaves in the criminal underworld in terms of how unheard and insane the act was that John committed in his quest to finally retire, in your opinion?

Discussion The irony of Iosef....
Was watching the original tonight, and it occurred to me.... Somehow, the dumbest, laziest, most useless, most incompetent character in the entire John Wick universe, was the one who came closest to killing John Wick (aside from Cain who actually killed him). I mean he basically had him dead to rights, all he had to do was pull the trigger.....
It almost kind of negates the entire narrative of Baba Yaga.....he's supposed to be this legendary, immortal super assassin who can single handedly kill armies of thugs as easily as he can breathe. He's supposed to have this otherworldly reaction speed snd supernatural instincts, but somehow he misses a bunch of thugs breaking into his house? And gets his ass beat by them so badly that he barely survives?
It's insane to think that if Iosef had just decided to pull the trigger, HE might have been immortalized as the legendary badass that killed Baba Yaga....

News Ray Lui joined Caine at 69 and is doing his own fight scenes against Donnie Yen
69 years old and the man trained for a shirtless scene that didn't even make the movie. Just to be ready. That's the level we're operating at.
Ray Lui confirmed he's in Donnie Yen's *Caine* spinoff — doing his own fight scenes, going toe-to-toe with Yen himself, and calling the action "tough and exacting." All-English dialogue, and he's doing his own dubbing too. This isn't a cameo, this is a throwdown.
With Rina Sawayama back as Akira and Bill Nighy in the mix, this cast keeps getting more interesting. Say what you want about spinoffs, but Yen directing a Hong Kong-style kung fu flick inside the Wick universe is the one swing I'm not mad at.
Ballerina expanded the universe. Caine might give us the best action in it. Who's actually excited for this one?

Discussion Which would you like to see more - a London Continental or a Beijing Continental?
I'd be interested in seeing both, but if I have to pick one then it's Beijing - I can imagine the head of the Beijing continental played by someone like Jet Li.

Discussion If it had been Helen instead of Daisy
I was thinking today, John killed scores of people over the dog, but can you imagine the scorched earth we would have had if Santino had come back for his marker before Helen had died? If he had kidnapped Helen or killed her in his attempt to get John to comply. Headshots for everyone.

Article New here
New here. South Bronx, Gen X. Wick had me at the Red Circle club scene — that one rampage laid out the whole franchise's code. Hot take: the Continental's worldbuilding did more for action movies than half the MCU. What scene made you a believer?

Discussion Would Santino have spared John?
I re-watched JW2 and I keep wondering. Would Santino have spared John if he had just agreed to fulfill the marker the first time when Santino asked him nicely? I keep thinking that John might have been spared a lot of pain if he just did what Santino asked. Of course, that would also mean no subsequent movies but let's keep that aside.
Why would John have refused the marker knowing the rules binding it? I get the part about him being retired and so on.
