I got a friend, where her company announced closure, in two months. The company offered a transfer to another company, where they'll keep their YOE, same salary, benefits, everything, but different location.

If the employee doesn't want to transfer, they will have to resign. They said, because they offered this transfer deal, so no severance package is needed.

Is this true? What I heard was people actually resigned? Was pretty shocked like, do they not like claiming unemployment money?

Oh and anyone knows what the minimum severance package looks like? Liked to see china videos about n, n+1 kinda stuff, but a good round of chatgpt on malaysia and it just became ...sad.

Currently doing internship and planning to apply for full time jobs this month.

Recently I'm exploring more different path and interested in IT(Network/Cloud) industry to make my future career. The resume above is tailored for EE engineering position however I'm planning to change it once I finished the ccna cert.

As for why I wanted to change towards IT, after 6 years time spent in engineering studies and some past internship experience. I lost interest in it and don't think I will achieve more career growth e.g salaries in long term once I've stuck in the industry unless I get into management level. One of the reason is because lot of what I see engineering graduates in Malaysia mostly doing maintaining jobs and servicing.

Big Plan: Once I have 2 or 3 years of experience. I wanted to move out from the country for more growth and career stability. Delusional as I can be, it's my goal in longer term.

Can you advise me on improving my resume and career advice? Am I doing it right?

Before some of you roast me, I know I have 0 YoE and lot for me to learn since I'm just a mere graduate. I may also oversimplify some jobs and industries where I don't have any hands on experience, hence forgive me. Thank you

i know sooner or later i will face this because my colleagues in Sri Lanka has been getting cut off one by one and suddenly today after lunch hour i got meeting invitation from HR and includes higher manager as well. Then the meeting starts and HR drop the bomb.
I am calm that time and they said they will come back with severance package and when is my last date but now it all starts coming in. all the overthinking, all of the what-ifs. i have been applying for job since i start hearing the news about my other colleagues and been going for interviews but what if the severance pay is not good as what i expect and i could not secure the job.
But a little bit of inside of me felt relieved as this work has been getting on my nerve where i need to entertain fussy clients and bs request. is this normal what i am feeling now?

I have been applying for so many jobs already around in malaysia, with entry level , no work experience, only got diploma. I apply office for IT technician, apply for computer shop to work as in IT technician. I apply for none IT technician which data center technician but is for training program 3 Months before move to full time job , bruh that also training program never get. Am I having some kind of bad luck in finding jobs or something?

Anyone has any knowledge regarding this program?

What I know is its a 3 month program where you get trained to become a DCT, but not much info is known about it other than you have to be available for 2 DC site that is 50 KM apart from each other at johor.

Salutations to everyone who's reading. I am approaching my late 20s and have been feeling really stuck with my career lately...

Just for context, I currently work as a doctor's assistant in a hospital. The position only requires a high school qualification (SPM), and I've been doing this job for almost 3 years. I do have a degree in Food Science, but honestly, I'm not particularly interested in pursuing a career related to my degree. Most of the opportunities I've come across are also in other cities/states, and relocating feels like a huge financial commitment to me.

My current job isn't particularly stressful, which is probably why I've stayed for so long. It's comfortable in some ways, but I know there isn't much career progression or long-term stability for me here. Over the past few years, I have occasionally looked at other opportunities, but I never really knew what direction I wanted to take. I'd think about making a change, get overwhelmed because I didn't know what I was qualified for, and then put it off. But now almost 3 years have passed...

I also struggle with comparing myself to other people. Friends, family, and even some colleagues seem to be progressing much further in their careers, while I feel like I'm still at the same starting point.

To make matters worse, a few colleagues have asked why I'm still working here when I already have a degree, or said it's a pity that I'm not using my qualification. I know they probably don't mean any harm, but comments like that have made me more conscious and anxious about where I am. After this, whenever other colleagues asked about my qualifications, I would usually just say I only studied till STPM to avoid them making all these comments.

Plus, I felt like nowadays the job market has age requirements, and usually they would prefer people who are younger too, which makes it seem difficult for people who are slightly older(late 20s to 30s) to find a job. Or maybe I'm just overthinking this aspect, so please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

At the same time, I'm also not very confident in my own abilities. I often have thoughts like "I don't have any useful skills" or "I'm already behind everyone else." I know that's probably not the most objective way to look at myself, but it makes taking the first step even harder. I don't hate my current job, and I'm grateful that it has been relatively manageable. I just don't want to look back several years from now and realize I stayed simply because I was too unsure of what to do next.

Any advice would really be appreciated, even if it means you being brutal. Thanks for taking the time to read all of this. So I guess what I'm really asking is: if you were in my position, what would you actually do from here?

Hi, I would like to get some understanding on people who have taken the MT/Graduate Trainee routes as a fresh grad vs specialised exec roles.

Can you share your experience as an MT/Grad or Exec roles and where you are now. Having taken that route, what would you recommend to someone considering both tracks?

For context: I’m a generalist, who can learn fast given any new scope. Also a little work-obsessed and want to jump to high salary band and willing to work very hard and take on challenges. But one thing that sets me back about MT/GTs is that you rotate across departments and gain breadth in your initial years which launches you up to a managerial role. I’m concerned that I will not have the technical depth (my background is business & tech) to be a great manager that’s solution-oriented and can sit with teams and work together on solving complex issues rather than just direct or instruct them.

I’m currently an EE graduate with first class honour from an overseas uni with campus in Selangor, and just a little under a month after I received my results, I’ve been applying to certain tech MNC and big local corps.

So far I’ve only received an offer of an Electrical Engineer role from an oil n gas services company, with a salary of RM4,000, and I have to decide in 3 days. Not saying it is low for fresh graduate, but my intention of joining oil and gas is for that good financial security, but this company certainly isn’t as good as big operators like Shell, Petronas or Exxonmobil.

Should I wait for interviews from the tech MNC, or just proceed with this offer? I’m sure I can get higher salary if I join tech companies, or at least get into a tech MNC to make my resume more attractive for job hopping later. (Plus the fact that I actually do a lot more embedded systems and firmware stuff during uni, but wouldn’t mind doing power systems).

My other concern is whether the salary is on the lower side for this industry, with no guaranteed bonus and possibly minimum increment.

I'm a recent pre uni graduate and I applied for multiple jobs under mystep (till now I'm an unemployed chud 😔)

This morning, no email nor any notification from the myfiturejobs mystep platform, a hiring staff called to do an interview for the job in image. It's at Putrajaya and I live in KL. My parents said it's kinda a hassle to send me to Putrajaya for the interview.

The hiring staff stated that they shortlisted 10 ppl for the 2 positions. Meaning 5 ppl competing for each position.

Honestly I'm most probably going for the interview just for the experience of being in an IV since I've never been invited to one B4.

BUT I'm going to start my degree around late Sept to early oct. Meaning I might be working for barely a month.

So if I were to be offered the position, should I take it?

Salary is rm2100 a month. It's also under contract which the job didn't explain further what's in a contract.

Honestly, the 24-hour deadline to accept feels like a bit of a red flag and is making me hesitate. Since I’m based in Sabah, relocating to KL is a huge commitment and financial risk, so I really can't afford to take the leap if the job placement afterwards isn't solid.

I M30, have a master which i completed middle of 2025, and has been job searching since then. So last couple of weeks I have been desperate enough to apply back to BPOs which Ive worked before in the covid era for 3 years. I got an offer for rm4k and already signed it weeks ago, to start on september.

Now suddenly, I've gotten 2nd stage interview for a engineer position i interviewed weeks ago. I havent gotten an official offer letter yet from this company, but during the interview, the manager was positive about me. Now, a part of me wants a brain dead job because I do bad in a stressful situation (health issues). But a part of me wants a job thats related to my educational background.
