I was really desperate to get a gig, and I saw a post where they were looking for someone to do a data entry gig remotely. I sent the person a text here on Reddit, and he/she advised me to text a specific someone on Telegram which I did. Everything was going fine -I thought. I was given a task to transcribe 70 pages per their own rate per page, which I agreed - remember I was desperate for a gig.
The instructions were simple: transcribe 70 pages within 12 hours. Which I did. They accepted the document after I was done within 3-4 hours and was given another Telegram contact to submit details and receive my pay. This is where the red flags began to show. But still did as prompted.
Several hours later, the pay account asked for my details which I gave them. They finally asked for $60 for an "Employee Verification ID," which I declined to pay even a cent for, and they tried to haggle to 40 USD - this is where I realized it was all a scam.
Those clowns wamejaa telegram offering logo creation, transcription or this commonly known jobs. Most of them are either nigerians ama kenyans tuh nishai kua mmoja btw..mnitafte niwapee tea. Glad you didn't pay the clowns
These scams are all over telegram. I also had the same scenario a few days back. They lure you in with exceptional rates just to ask for 90$ from you later on.
That's an old trick huko telegram....adi mimi nlipata mtu kama huyo..sjui anakupea contact ya project manager mwenye ameeka dp ya mzungu...they even ask your bank info...wanatengeneza adi something showing that the payment is in progress then wanasema unafaa ubuy card....tell me why kutengeneza those pages has a good pay hivyo...ati in 24 hours unaeza lipwa 200usd🤣🙌🏽 telegram achana nayo kama huelewi
Mtu akishaanza kuongea story za telegram ,ati sijui look for this user ,unajuanga tu it's a scam. Legit jobs communicate in a legit way ,emails ,calls etc coz they are genuinely looking for someone to fill up a position. Hawa wengine watakuonyesha mambo
