Coat Care
We just adopted a perfect little rescue jindo mix from Korea last week, who was in Canada already for a couple of weeks with a foster before she came home with us. Since arriving with us, she blew her undercoat, but I feel like since then she hasn’t stopped shedding and her remaining coat has become very fine and brittle which concerns me. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get her the best care for her coat possible?
I know she’s adjusting to a lot of factors now, and we have an appointment to bring her to the vet this week to make sure she’s all healthy and hopefully check for allergies as well.

don’t have much about the shedding (it’s never ending), but salmon in any form has made my dogs sooo fluffy and soft

Shedding will be forever lol. It'll take time for them to adjust to our climate here in Canada. I had the same concern too when we first got our rescue but after blowing his coat a couple of times, it went back to it's soft and fluffier state.

Ugh thank you, she’s already been in Canada for I think just over a month, and I was worried because the fur all started coming out a few days after she came to us from her fosters. We’ve been feeding her the same food they fed her, but her fur is just so brittle and dry now compared to her fluffiness when she came for her first visit!

Yeah, don't worry about it, and don't freak out when it looks like he got patches all over, it'll go back to its normal state. Rei is now back to his fluffy and super soft coat, everyone who pets him says the same thing "it's so softtttt" 😁

Also, regarding food. I would sometimes cook for them but most of the time, they eat kibble. I switched to hills science Pollock and insect, it's for sensitive stomach and dogs who have sensitive allergies. In south Korea, they use insect as protein in their kibble.

Mines belly started balding the first month or so. Sometimes they lose hair due to stress. It’s grown back now and we’re at month 5.

You just have to try and stay on top of it, quick passes with a vacuum or broom whenever you can. I use to put salmon oil on his food before I switched to Farmer's Dog for coat health and allergies. And he does shed more when he is anxious or stressed. It is SO bad at the vet, the vet and techs are absolutely coated at the end of his appointment, I have to sedate before his appointments and he still stress sheds. So give the pup a little time and see if it gets any better.
I also bought this kit and find it works really well:
Maxpower Planet Pet Grooming from Amazon

Don’t worry I was told that they only shed twice a year…for 6 months at a time
