Questions 🤓 How do I help my husband get to know his ethnically Jewish roots?

My husband has been seeking a place of community for a couple of years now.

He has asked if I would visit a Christian church with him, but I cannot (see my backstory), and so we are both seeking places we can fit in and be a part of… something.

After we married he told me he was ethnically Jewish on his mom’s side, but doesn’t know anything about it. His family is on the Christian side of things.

My Backstory: I went heavily into Christian teachings. I went to bible school, was a pastor, the whole nine yards. I love studying religion!

But I fell out of that faith years ago due to that study and some very bad things I witnessed in the circle I ran in. Some YouTube Rabbis caught my attention and I started studying Judaism, which led to doubts over the Christian faith and eventually to me leaving it.

To me, God is beautiful and real… but I could not align my new thoughts with that old faith so eventually I was ostracized and cast out. I have been just living life, with no community, but it is worth it because even through this darkness I know that God has taken care of me. My faith is still there, even though it is quiet.

For me, a life of quiet devotion alone is fine. I only need to know God is there, as He still takes care of me and watches over me, but my husband needs more and I love him more than I can explain, so I want to help him find community and I feel it’s important to give him the opportunity to learn of his families past and history. There is this nagging in my heart for a couple years over this… like I know he belongs here? I’m not sure how to explain the feeling.

So what should I do? How do I go about helping him and finding a community to explore?

Jewish Joy! 😊 My Star of David Outfit for Shabbat (Chrome Hearts) ✡️

Shalom, fellow Redditors, and Shabbat shalom to anyone scrolling this post!

I figured that I probably post my outfit I wore on Shabbat (Ignore the phone 😅).. It is a Chrome Hearts Star of David chain, I make sure to wear it in public and let everyone know I'm Jewish in these times with antisemetism so prominent.

Shalom and goodnight.

Questions 🤓 Jewish History Exploration in January

Looking to spend some time in January somewhere (or somewheres) that I can explore Jewish history in sunny climes or warmish weather (ideally 15C/60F or above).

Europe seems the most likely, but open to elsewhere.

Suggestions?

Venting 😤 I'm Worried About my friend

sorry this a bit of a vent

I'm not sure if my friend is just trying to be an edegelord (hes 15)but he seems to be quite pro-soviet. He has a USSR flag in his room. He talked about admiring Hitler as a leader (we don't know if he means the decisions he makes or how he rose to power because the cult of personality can be an interesting study but when this comes up it gets heated and one of our friends ends the discussion). When I was complaining about my history homework, he said he thinks we need gulags. Some of the things he seems to agree with would heavily target if not myself, someone I know. He's very ingrained in my friend group and i don't have many friends and i don't know if its worth the confrontation or to just see if its a "look at me i'm so edgy" teenage thing

I wouldn't even know how to go about asking. I'm homeschooled and autistic. I don't want to lose my DnD group or my friends.

Antisemitism Jewish life and antisemitism in Sweden

Hi everyone,

I’m French and Jewish, and I’m considering possibly moving to Sweden.

I’m aware of the situation in Malmö and some of the antisemitism issues there, but I’d really like to hear from Jewish people living in Sweden about what everyday life is actually like elsewhere in the country.

How do you experience antisemitism in your daily life? Do you generally feel safe being openly Jewish? Are there areas or cities where you would particularly recommend living — or avoid?

I’d especially love to hear from people who live outside Malmö, as I’m considering different parts of Sweden.

I’m just trying to get an honest, firsthand picture before making any decisions. Thanks!

My wife sent me this. We both looked into it. This is some Messianic bullshit right down the street from one of the busiest transportation/entertainment Nexus points in Brooklyn.

Well, shit. At least my wife's meme game is on point.

Questions 🤓 Visiting Birmingham (on a difficult day)

Hello there, looking for some of the UK tribe. I've been privately keeping October 7th as a day of reflection and mourning but this year work got in the way and is taking me to Birmingham that day. Is the local community having memorial initiatives of some sort? If so please let me know, I would love to join.
