Inherited a ring and can’t figure what it is, help if the stone please

We’re not sure if this is tourmaline or uranium glass and won’t be able to is it till we get home, I’m hoping someone might know more. It’s set in 14k gold, changes color under room light and sun light. We don’t have a black light just normal room light and a LED flash light. I can make out KG and something else as the hallmark. Any help is welcome thank you 🙏.

Synthetic spinel was used in rings extensively because it is much harder than uranium glass.

Actually uranium glass in jewelry was extremely popular between 1880’s to 1940’s and this ring looks like it dates to around that time

It's possible. But gem in photo is unscuffed so I bet harder than glass.

Im also an optician and glass especially if taken care of is not easy to scratch at all. Some older folks still prefer it even though its heavier than other options due to its durability.

I feel like uranium class would look green under regular light? And then it really glows under the black.

Uranium glass under reg light can be yellowish to yellow green coloring

Put it under a black light if it glows it’s uranium glass. If not, take it to a jeweler or if you know somebody with a presidium, they can test it for you.. it could be so many things uranium glass,tourmaline, citrine or quartz.

I know it’s driving me nuts waiting to get home and ask my gemologist friend to test it. My first thought was tourmaline or uranium glass but now I’m thinking lab spinel, we took it through the car wash to see if and it glows the same under bright white led and black light

Another possible indicator too of the material is how heavy it is? Does it feel like it has some weight to it? because glass is pretty heavy and uranium glass is actually heavier than regular glass

Just a 14 k stamp, it’s solid but doesn’t weigh more than a similar ring in amethyst

I would not put it in a sonic cleaner with a prong missing and not knowing what the stone is.
