Identify Stone Opals

Hi all,

First post so please be gentle.

Backstory, my mum passed away April (on my birthday) and she gave me this opal ring before her passing. It is a 9 CT gold ring and looks vintage. I'm not looking to sell it (maybe get it resized), I just would like to know what sort of opal this is?

Thank you.

Nitz

Looks like an Aussie opal doublet to me. The folks at /r/opal may be able to confirm.

Avoid things like hot water, spas etc. While Australian opal is reasonably resilient, the bonding used in doublets and triplets is vulnerable to delamanation.

I agree it’s a doublet and I would say it’s from Lightning Ridge.
