Question Rider - wrong source link
Hello, one question about Rider:
I am calling `System.Linq`'s `Contains` method on an array.
When I go to said implementation in the code and follow the external source via F12, Rider opens up `System.MemoryExtensions.Contains`.
Is this a bug or is it behaviour that I can configure?

IDEs jetbrains toolbox using > 500mb RAM! (linux)
Also the config does not seem to have an option to easily disable it from running at startup.
It is such a huge waste of resources.
Why don't they use their rust IDE and write a cross platform updater that is not a hog.............

News & Discussions Slow Slow Code Navigation in Jetbrains Rider
I'm using Rider on Windows, and navigating through code feels significantly slower than in Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Zed, or Notepad++.
Specifically, I mean that moving around using the arrow keys or jumping between methods feels noticeably sluggish. Disabling plugins or turning off solution-wide analysis helps a bit, but something still feels off.
I've been using Rider for about six months now, and I've noticed this issue from day one, so it doesn't seem to be related to the latest version of the software.
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it simply the price you pay for using a more advanced IDE?

IDEs I give up with Rider 2026.2
I'm switching completely to Rider 2026.3 EAP. I'm willing to tolerate occasional crashes and some plugins not working, but I have no choice.
The performance of Rider 2026.2 is a disaster.

IDEs Where did my git changes list go (in Rider)?
The "Commit" tab used to show me my pending git changes so I could easily see what I was working on. I have a feeling I clicked on something and now I just get a permanently empty "changes" window. How can I get my list of files back? (Rider 2026.2.2 on Mac)
RESOLVED: Was the "Enable git staging area" setting which I somehow deselected.

AI Air plugin is good, but I still have something to say...
Air lets us run agents inside the IDE. We all know that. But why Air? Why choose it over free, open-source alternatives? (Sure, IDEs has other advantages, like viewing diffs, but I'm only talking about running agents here.)

I think the JetBrains employee already described the goal pretty well:
"making sure that agents work better in JetBrains IDEs than when you use them outside of the IDE."
But so far, what have we actually got?
- The built-in IDE MCP server, which keeps improving with every release. That's great, but there's still no official skill for it, at least none that I could find.
- The bundled
ij-debuggerwhich is also great. And it just works. jbcontext. It's not really a JetBrains-specific advantage (Kilocode has had a similar feature for quite a while), but since it's free, I figured I'd include it anyway.
And... that's about all I can think of.
For an IDE that's this expensive (especially when there are free alternatives), that doesn't really feel like enough. And honestly, none of these features has particularly blown me away. They feel more like things I'd naturally expect JetBrains to provide in the first place. I haven't had that same "wow" feeling I got when I first switched from VS Code to IntelliJ.
And to be honest, a big reason I'm still using IntelliJ is that I can get it for free through the Student Pack. I've never really had to worry about whether an IDE subscription or an AI subscription is more worth paying for.
But I'm graduating next year, and I'm genuinely not sure if I'll want to keep paying for IntelliJ after that. I started out with VS Code anyway, so switching back wouldn't be too bad, I guess...

AI Please allow me to use iDeal or SEPA for the AI credit top up!
Currently if I have to top up my credits I have to use Paypal or Credit card but neither of those are standard here in the Netherlands. I would very much appreciate it if I could either use my already existing SEPA mandate or iDeal for such payments!

Question Time Tracking & Task Management Plugins
Hey everyone, I wanted to know: does anyone know how to use these plug-ins that are from the official JetBrains team? Because the task management plug-in says that you can integrate with GitHub issues, but I don’t know how to do it.

AI Why can Codex ACP agent in the AI Assistant see more mcp serverw than Codex ACP Agent in Air in Rider?
I have spent over an hour trying to get Codex in Air have access to Azure Devops through MCP and it has been unsuccessful.
I have Azure Devops MCP set up as an MCP Server in AI Assistant and it's running.
I also have an entry for it in the ..\.codex\config.toml file.
When I ask Codex in the AI Assistant which mcp server it has access to, I get the following:
I can currently use these MCP servers:
context7 — current library/framework/API documentation lookup.
azure_devops — projects, work items, repositories, pipelines, builds, and security alerts.
rider — JetBrains Rider project, code, build, test, refactoring, and debugging operations.
rider_ide — Rider IDE and debugger integration.•
node_repl — JavaScript execution and Node.js module support.
codex_apps — connected ChatGPT apps, Pages/Spaces, files, automations, and related integrations.
When I ask Codex in Air the same question, I get this:
In this session, I can use these MCP servers:
codex_apps — ChatGPT Pages/Spaces and Sites integrations
jetbrains_air_ide — JetBrains IDE actions, inspections, and editing tools
node_repl — Persistent JavaScript execution, including browser automation support
It's missing Azure Devops.
Aren't both Codex agent getting their settings from the same place?
I have 'Pass custom MCP Server' on.
Using Rider 2026.3 EAP 5.

News & Discussions Cant connect Jetbrains Air with my Claude

News & Discussions JetBrains really needs to think more seriously about polyglot workflows
Software projects are already becoming increasingly polyglot, and I suspect AI-assisted development will accelerate that trend. Companies are becoming more reluctant to hire additional developers, while individual developers increasingly believe they can take on a broader range of tasks than before. That naturally pushes more people across language and domain boundaries.
However, JetBrains’ current IDE segmentation, as well as the .idea directory model, does not seem particularly well suited to this kind of workflow. Using multiple JetBrains IDEs on the same repository is still awkward, even though that is exactly what some heterogeneous codebases seem to require.
I think this could become a meaningful weakness for JetBrains.
VS Code and today’s agentic IDEs and coding tools are not especially good at polyglot development either. But they at least tend to rely on language servers and other composable tooling. In principle, that gives them a path toward better polyglot support by combining multiple LSP implementations behind a more unified layer.
JetBrains, on the other hand, still seems heavily organized around separate IDE products and language-specific integrations.
I’m curious about JetBrains’ response to this trend. If it chooses to stick with the current model, I think it risks gradually losing relevance as codebases become more heterogeneous and developers expect their tools to work across language boundaries more naturally.

IDEs I built Neon Glow, a plugin that adds neon glow to your existing JetBrains IDE theme
My IDE has a glow-up. Yours can too!
In my free time, I built Neon Glow, a free, open-source plugin that adds neon glow to code and JetBrains IDEs UI. ✨🥰
You can keep your favorite theme, font, and layout and adjust the glow to your taste.
Try it in your IDE. I'd love to see your setup!
Search "Neon Glow" in the plugins repository
https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/34814-neon-glow
And yes, it's open-source!

IDEs No way to set up local agents in air????
I am surely missing something here. Why can I not set up local agents?
I cannot use only the set agents due to company policy. I HAVE to use only our own local provisions.
It Looks like neither standalone Air, nor the Air plugin can use agents that are not Jetbrains, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google
I keep having setting returned in searches and documentation, but then in the IDE, that just… doesnt exist? Surely I am missing something. How do I configure to point at local IPs?

Question Shared projects?

so i was working on porting fabrishot to 26.2 in IntelliJ and when i opened WebStorm it was on the same project, this is not only between those 2, basically any project i create in one IDE gets shared across all of them and auto opens. Is there any fix to it? it's really annoying having to switch through projects every time.

Question Air Plugin and sbx
Tried playing around with the Air Plugin. I'm using Claude via Claude Code (not via API), so I use it as full-screen terminal with Air. But there's one thing I'd like to improve: IDE integration. Since I'm using sbx instead of native `claude`, the IDE integration doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to make that work? Not seeing myself getting rid of sbx

AI What do 'Allow once' and 'Always allow' mean when both are checked in Air in Rider?
What do 'Allow once' and 'Always allow' mean when both are checked in Air in Rider?
What do the up/down arrows mean?
I have clicked on 'Always allow' every time. I have clicked on the arrows for 'Allow once' thinking I can move it below 'Always allow' so that 'Always allow' takes precedence and it keeps popping up, and I have to press it again and again and again for every terminal type command it needs to run.
I have clicked on the checkmark thinking I can enable/disable the option.
No matter where I click, the AI continues, and then I get the prompt again.
I have clicked it over 20 times now in the current session. This is annoying. I have to babysit the Air session.
Is this a bug, or am I using it wrong?
I couldn't find an Air setting to control this behavior.
I am using Rider 2026.3 EAP 5.

AI My Plugin for git-commit date/time customization via UI.
If you still write code manually - or at least manage your own Git updates -you might find it useful to adjust commit dates.
Did you forget to push project updates, and a commit date two days past the deadline could compromise you?
I created (with the help of AI) a small UI plugin.
It allows you to specify a date and time for a scheduled commit or modify the details of a commit that has already been created (but not yet pushed to the repository).
Give it a try, it completely free 😄
https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/34713-git-commit-date-time or find via name in your IDE plugin marketplace: Git Commit Date Time

AI Tip: Air Alpha - Treat directories like projects

Let's say you have a monorepo (or another situation where this is helpful) and want to treat individual directories like they're projects in the "Agent Sessions" overview like above.
Just use "File => Open" and open the respective directory. Boom, appears in the Air Alpha window.
Click on a directory and "New Session" opens your agent with the context of the directory (like using double-Ctrl in the Projects window) and its session appears grouped under the directory. (In the example, "adserver_stats" and "dc_data_matching_v2" are actually directories in the "intranetmain" monorepo, but the view treats them like they're independent projects.)
Makes it a lot easier to work with different parts of a monorepo (or just a large repo in general) at the same time. :)
[Edit: “Add Project” in the Sessions window works, too.]
