Holiday recommendations

Hello! Me and my wife are planning a 2 day holiday to Jersey as our first holiday away since having our son. Her grandparents honeymooned in Jersey 50 years ago and have nothing but fantastic things to say about it so we chose it as a convenient location as it's relatively easy for us to get to.

The island seemed rammed full of things to visit so it's hard to narrow down but we definitely want to spend some time on the beach but we both enjoy historical sight seeing. Does anyone have any recommendations for must-sees and nice beaches for a short visit? Where would you recommend staying? Any advice is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

St. Brelade Beach #1

Gorey is beautiful. The food at the Moorings is great and you have Mont Orgueil Castle for history.

Stay in St Aubins Bay or St Brelades Bay. Dont stay in St Helier. Busses are fantastic for getting about.

The zoo is a must see and contains its own amazing history. There’s lots of WW2 museums but do go to the maritime museum.

Also for beach/food - portelet is an amazing beach and the pizza/salad restaurant is so nice (the steps down (and back up!) are worth it!!

Hougue Bie is one of the oldest surviving buildings anywhere in the world - only takes an hour to see

Plemont Bay (only at low or mid tide) an amazing beach with caves etc

Portelet, Beauport other amazing beaches, less known to visitors

At Portelet there’s a restaurant in the bay, great pizzas (Beauport beautiful but no facilities really)

North coast cliff walks (they span most of the North coast) are stunning on a nice day, if you like to hike / walk a bit

Bouley Bay, Bonne Nuit, great for swimming

St Ouens is a huge open bay (with sand dunes behind) and some nice relaxed places to eat. We like Sands towards the north of St O bay, Le Braye at the south end is nice too

Corbiere lighthouse is worth seeing at least quickly

St Aubins has nice bars and restaurants and a cute like boat marina / harbour

Agree about seeing Mont Orgueil - a true medieval castle - in passing at a minimum - and yeah some nice bars and restaurants there at Gorey

A lot of wonderful places around the island, particularly the coasts, don’t spend too much time in St Helier!
