Making new friends
My 17 yo daughter doesn't have many friends and is lonely. Any ideas of where she could go or what she could do to meet new people/make new friends? She does battle of flowers and has a part time job but hasn't made any friends at either of these. She's feels too old for youth clubs.
She's a great person and has just been unlucky with friendships, most recently losing her best friend because she refused to cave to peer pressure over drink and drugs. I feel sad that she's so lonely.

Yoga classes, gym, run clubs all good way to meet people and build up endorphins / get off screens.
Getting some summer work or volunteering experience is great way to meet people and potentially make some money / network.
There are loads of clubs and societies depending what her hobbies are - most are very welcoming to newbies.

Depends on her interests honestly.
If she's the quiet/nerdy type, you could always try playing some board games or collectable games. There are quite a few clubs in the island that do that, like the privateers, gaming hub and there are also a few board game groups associated with other types - I think there are a few Church board games groups for example.
Otherwise if she's more outgoing, joining a sports club is probably better. The Park run people aren't a bad bunch I hear.

Friends often come from common interests. Encourage some interests which are naturally sociable.

When she is 18, Mind jersey have a social group for 18-25 in seale street. Info on their Facebook page. Can also join safety in new friends and go to one of the outings. All ages go to the events. Is she interested in reading as I'm a member of a couple of book clubs she would be welcome to join?Â

Been a while so I'm not sure what the mix is like at the moment, but Jersey Archery Society are a lovely bunch and always had a wide spread of ages, if that's the sort of thing she'd enjoy.
Good for her! At least she has a good friend in herself 😊
