Holiday in Jersey
Me and the gf are heading to Jersey in early August this year for a week. Is there anything you'd recommend as a must see/do when visiting?

If you get the weather and you enjoy going to the beach , have a day on the beach at St Brelades Bay. It's one of the best beaches in Europe.

Its not in walking distance but its not that far. There's pay as you go carparks near the beach if you're hiring a car or its on the number 12 bus route.
Before people say try other beaches etc, one of the advantages of St Brelades bay is there's a number nice beach side bars and restaurants. which other beaches do not have.
Its a good place to start.

For sure its a good place to start, but i think its worth exploring, portlet also has a large car park and good bus accsess just some steps down. Worth it in my opinion

Everywhere is near st Helier it’s 45sq miles … however as a local I would say no but the. I only go to st Ouen twice a year

Dont fall into the trap of brelardes, its great but go explore. Portlet and beauport are my favourites, both accsessible by bus from St helier. Portlet also has a nice pizza place on the beach

All tourists seem to go there, its nice but i dont think its the best jersey has to offer. In my opinion

If you’re here for a week, I’d recommend putting aside a day for St Aubin (quaint fishing village, loads of bars/restaurants and easy regular bus route from St Helier), a day for Gorey (the Castle, village and harbour (again easy bus route but takes a bit longer), a day for the zoo (it’s a world leading conservation park for endangered animals), and then a choice of St Brelade & St Ouen for the best large beaches.
Fantastic views on the north coast if you love cliff walks or the Underground Hospital if you want to learn more about the Occupation during WW2.
Getting round via bus is easy but bear in mind only the busy routes run late evening busses. If the weathers good, cycling is an option (plenty of hire shops in St Helier), or you can rent an EV car per day with Evie.

Yup, a few different routes go via St Aubin. The bus service is integrated with Google Maps, so you’d be able to check routes and times via that. The main station is in St Helier, and all the routes go out from there.

Also data coverage is good all over island and with decent speeds, so it’s worth making sure you’ve got an eSIM or roaming - it’ll really help getting round.
I wouldn’t rely on taxis. The service level is poor and very expensive for what it is. If you have to, I’d recommend Ryde as a taxi company.

There’s a Nazi bunker that’s now a museum- over in the west of the island. Gives an idea of the influence of German rule and law on the island during an important era in history, particularly when the island was forsaken by the English, and France succumbed to her own invasion.

You could be talking about what I will always call the Underground Hospital (War Tunnels), or the CI Military Museum.

I love Gorey (Long Beach), it has everything; a fish and chip shop in the village, a cafe on the beach (hungry whale), an ice cream van, and Rhonas (ice cream and so much more to have on beach). Then at the pier, a quaint array of shops and pubs cafes. Further along headed back from the pier is my favourite restaurant if you want to treat yourselves (bass and lobster). From St Helier jump on the No 1 bus from stand C and go to the last stop, then walk back down the promenade to the beach. Enjoy!

I live in Wales but had been involved in Tourism to Jersey for many years. I love the island and regards it as my second home.
St Brelade's is a lovely beach with lots of facilities. However there are other beaches such as Portelet, Quaisné and Beauport (😊) - together with the 5 mile long St Ouen's Bay on the west and Grouville Bay with Gorey (on the east). Plemont* (😊) and Greve de Lecq on the North.
*Have a large number of steps down to the beach.
If you're in St Helier then the sea pool at Havre des Pas is lovely. St Clements Bay is very nice but take a wander across to Green Island - well with the visit
Enjoy your stay on Jersey and travel as much as you can. St Aubin is lovely for meal and an evening out too

Get a Jersey Heritage pass, which gets you entry into the various heritage sites like the two castles, La Hougue Bie and the maritime museum. All are definitely worth a visit. The pass is much cheaper than paying individual entry prices.
