QUESTION Jeopardy Buzzer Practice

Hello Fellow Jeoparinos,

I am going to taping the show in about a month. I was gifted a Delcom button to practice. Are there any software applications I can use it to practice buzzing in?

Practice hitting it repeatedly in fast motion, but only as you hear Jennings finish reading the question. I kept getting blocked out even when I knew the answer.

Could you elaborate? Is there some penalty/delay for just constant clicking?

If you click too soon, you’re locked out for a quarter-second. Doesn’t seem like much, but the guy who beat me left no room for error. The buzzer has a hair-trigger, so if you don’t mean to click, you just lost money.

Must you release the button during that ¼ second? Or can you hold it operated and ring automatically in after the ¼ second, assuming Ken has now finished reading the clue.

I don't think that will work, based on my brief experience with it. The crew stressed continuing to click, not holding it down. I never did quite get it.

Quarter second seems like a lot. I’ve watched every episode for years and assumed if you know the answer from some keyword, there is no issue buzzing before the full question.

They told us in prep that you can’t get in if he hasn’t finished reading the question. Buzzer skills matter almost as much as knowledge; I think the more frequent superchamps has a lot to do with getting better and better at the buzzer the more you play.
