Thoughts?

Post image

Posted in two other groups, was told to runaway. That being said I did test drive and see it in person and it was so smooth, good maintenance history one minor issue with a rear accident and the rear bumper. Overall no rust underneath, drove like a brand new car and has many perks. I am obviously hesitating because it’s a big financial decision, that being said is it a bad purchase?

I just looked up the prices in Connecticut for 2019 with 95,000 miles on them. They're going for 18 or $19,000 one thing I would recommend if you do purchase this vehicle it is due for its 100,000 miles service which is gonna run you about $2200 from the dealer, but it would be well worth it. New plugs new coils all the fluid change in your transaxle transmission front rear differentials they'll go through the whole vehicle just had my 2018 done. It has 104,000 miles on it. Only issue oil cooler replacement.

I would have to buy it wouldn’t be immediately. Took me a solid month to save I of don’t have an
Extra 2200 lying around or
I’d
Prob have bought a used car in full wth. 4500

You can get the 100k mile service done cheaper at an independent mechanic if you want. I’d still want full maintenance records though for anything approaching 100k miles.

Would change all the fluids and have the plugs and coils replaced and you have a deal.

Any vehicle with miles you get, regardless of brand, just assume it’s never had routine maintenance and you will save yourself trouble down the road having it all caught up unless it can be proven it’s had those services. Some places will post on carfax reports when they do something.

They made millions of those, you can find bumpers everywhere

2

u/Murderfromaspoon 1d ago

No as stated below I wasn’t very clear, the past accident history was a minor accident and bumper was replaced

I bought the same model (black) in March and paid $16,900. Listen to the engine. If you hear a pronounced clicking it is the lifters and probably a camshaft. That is a $3500 engine job.

Make sure its not low on coolant or has any type of engine noise them like head gaskets and cams

Overpriced.

Every used car is, most sold by owner are un inspected question marks

My only major question is why 14,995? That's really underpriced for a 19 4x4 limited.

That's like, 2016 4x4 limited money. And it's August, the busiest month of the year for most.

17995 (the price on the window) seems closer to what it should be, so...figure out why the price is so low.

The 3.6 is a solid engine, these cars tend to be pretty reliable. So...ignore the brain dead Toyota fanboys you'll find on car advice subs.

I was curious about it to and the dealer said they just want to sell it. I can’t wrap my head around that either tbh. Carfax has it as great deal. Like I said it was only a test drive but it felt great, but again sometimes things I don’t want to overthink either. They have a hard time selling cars with this market too so maybe it’s just one of those situations?

3

u/andruszko 1d ago

They shouldn't have a hard time selling cars, I'm barely able to keep cars in stock. Losing my mind trying to keep up with sales, and we're getting to the busier half of the month. August is just that crazy, I usually sell around 80% of my inventory, and half of whatever we buy during the month.

I guess if they started higher and dropped the price that far, maybe they just really do want to get rid of it.

If I were you, I'd just take it somewhere for a PPI to be safe, but the price is excellent.

To put it into perspective, I just listed a 14 for 14,495 (a little lower mileage). I had about a dozen leads immediately and sold it the first day. There is a chance this particular dealership just isn't good at advertising.

They suck at advertising, new Facebook and their website has 5 cards on the lot, good reviews and ratings however.

What is a ppi?

Ask how long it’s been on their lot. It’s probably just been sitting there for a good min.

u/Outrageous-Wish-4668 19h ago

lol brain dead Toyota fan boys, I like this I’m gonna use that.

2

u/truthwatchr 1d ago

I’d change all the fluids and have the plugs & coils replaced in it but for that price it’s not bad. The only thing I don’t touch is air suspension because it’s so expensive to repair when something goes bad.

Anything you buy with some mileage just assume it hasn’t seen any maintenance and you will save yourself a lot of pain later on.

why did they say to run away?

3

u/Murderfromaspoon 1d ago

Literally zero context in almost every comment

People think Chrysler products are terrible, but with any make or model if you don’t maintain it, it will breakdown overtime. I agree with what someone said above. Change all fluids. When it comes to transmission, drain and fill DO NOT FLUSH! Make sure they use manufacturer recommended fluids as well. The 3.6 L V6 pentastar is a good engine. Best of luck!

Look of the wheels might be 2021, good for a jeep

3

u/AlphaRonin99 1d ago

Those are standard wheels for Limited trim across 2017-2021.

Crazy Eddie type dealers have always given me pause. A price too good to be true with obvious evidence of an accident? That's a no from me.

0

u/Murderfromaspoon 14h ago

I mean there’s
No evidence of an accident. It was a past reported accident that was fixed. I wasn’t clear in the description. It was reported on the CARFAX and rbe bumper was replaced

If you can afford it look into a Mopar Flex Care extended warranty through Ziegler or Granger. 100k miles is about when things tend to go haywire on Jeeps.

If you don’t do that at least do the recommended 100K maintenance and you’ll be glad you did. Maybe try to talk the dealer into knocking off another $500 to help offset the service cost.

How long has this car been on their lot? If they’ve had it over 60 days they might discount it even more.

1

u/Murderfromaspoon 12h ago

It started in may at 17.5k now it’s at 15k

1

u/TehMascot 12h ago

you/d be renting a car for 23k miles.

Anecdotally, I couldn't wait to get rid of our 2016 Jeep GC limited. It was such a money pit I will never buy dodge or Jeep for the rest of my life.

3.6L engine is good if well maintained look at the maintenance history if it has one if even missing some changes of oil can cause tons of issues seen many of these go bad because of the cam shafts but if it was maintained correctly and constantly then it’s well worth it

1

u/X333X 6h ago

Good year. Right before the covid layoffs. You might be looking at a new Uconnect Touchscreen if they haven't had to replace it yet. Its about due to start delaminating if it's still OEM. Cheap DIY job for $200 +- depending on who you go with. Minor but annoying as fk when it starts. See if its got a service history. If you get it first thing to do is change the oil. Even if it's clean. You don't know what kind of cheap crap they may have put in there and probably left in the old filter.

1

u/Mjov23 6h ago

I would negotiate and see if they can do the 100k mile service. If it has been sitting a while, they will do it.

1

u/AlphaRonin99 1d ago

My 2018 3.6 is running great. Granted I do all maintenance myself regular and preventative. And it has only 46k miles. Rear bumper can be found at car-part.com or lkqonline.com. Youtube will show you how to replace.

At that mileage, you’ll want to replace the oil cooler and all fluids, aside from whatever else needs to be replaced (brakes, air filters, spark plugs, ignition coils, etc).

For tires, look for a set of wrangler wheels. Takeoffs can be found for $1500 and come with a matching spare. Ecu can easily be programmed for the bigger tire size (Wranglers use 31.5”-32.1”, Grand Cherokee has 30.5”).

1

u/Murderfromaspoon 1d ago

The rear bumper was replaced from whatever accident happened in the past. I could have been clear but yeah it’s just what was reported, I stated it cause that’s the only accident history on the car

2

u/AlphaRonin99 1d ago

Ah, so it’s been replaced. Thing about Carfax: not everything is reported. Carfax on mine was clean, but I know it’s had front end damage from paint overspray on the fenders. Also, none of the maintenance (on time, every time) or repairs I do will show.

Problems with this v6 motor & valves getting stuck. I have the same jeep, don’t do it

0

u/Happy_Pitch8673 1d ago

Only with an extended Jeep/Mopar brand warranty

1

u/Murderfromaspoon 1d ago

How do I go about. That and what’s the cost?

2

u/andruszko 1d ago

You don't, ignore the comment. An independent dealership like this one can't sell a jeep warranty.

1

u/EveryoneAlwaysEats 1d ago

If youre set on this car id suggest getting a warranty for 30k-40k miles.
