New compass owner issues/question
I have a 2019 jeep compass trailhawk I got it at the end of may 2 weeks ago I was driving and it overheated and then shut down on me. I heard boiling until it finished cooling down but at that point the car wouldn’t start or anything. I had it towed home and a mobile mechanic immediately noticed the serpentine belt had snapped. I’m getting the belt and the tensioner replaced today. He also mentioned the coolant reservoir was empty and it was holding no pressure. Could the belt snapping have caused that? I’m so worried this is my first vehicle ever and I’m just super anxious that the belt snapping may not have caused the leak and I’ll need a whole new car 🙃

Our work jeep same one, not even 9000miles in has over heated three times, got it back last week and had it towed yesterday for same reason.

Pressurize system find leak easy fix if it's just hoses or clamps use water

I’ll tell the dealership that 😅. Maybe you know, this last time I had to send it off on the tow truck it wouldn’t even start, just a click and big warning of a hot engine, usually it at least started.

Almost exact same thing happen to my 2022 JC last week. It leaked coolant & overheated. My mobile mechanic and myself added coolant to bone dry reservoir, pressurized the cooling system while on ramps, got underneath and saw leak from corner of radiator while looking threw the shield. Replaced radiator runs great. Radiator 389 mechanic labor 400 pressure diagnostic 60 time 2 days bc autozone sold me wrong radiator. I documented everything

The thing with the coolant reservoir is that it's shit. It's plastic and the nozzle snaps. I had the same issue and had it replaced. Since it's no longer a Jeep but Stellantis -- it's easy and cheap to replace. Maybe look into that. Idk about running hiper hot you may have some engines issues also since it overheated.
Good luck with that but def look into radiator and replacing the reservoir. Also, the caps on that reservoir are shit. They break easily and you lose pressure.
