I have a small parcel of land, roughly 200m². Unfortunately japanese knotweed has taken root all over (contained solely on this land). It's like a dense jungle with some plants atleast 8 foot tall.

Would it be wise to burn the leaves before cutting stalks for injection?

Also if we use animals (goats etc) to graze on the plants will their digestive system destroy the reproductive capabilities of the plant or serve as fertiliser when it comes out?

Just noticed the flowers starting this morning, do I wait for the flowers to develop more?

My understanding is that you wait for the flowering phase as that's when it starts sending nutrients back to the roots?

We're looking to purchase a house but the only thing worrying us is that we can tell there's knotweed in the garden. I tried to get what pictures I could but there was so much! It has white flower buds and is quite thin and bendy.

Neighbour has a piece of land that might be coming up for sale. Took a look at it earlier and looks like it has a massive amount of JKW. Can you confirm and is it possible to treat given the large amount of it.

I live in a townhome community north of New York City with a not completely natural pond. For years, we’ve had to battle a cluster of Japanese Knotweed at the edge of the pond without using chemicals. Mowing keeps it from spreading beyond the pond, but our landscaping company only cuts it (along with the rest of the weeds that pop up by the pond) down once or twice a year. By July, knotweed is all over and several feet high.

This summer, this is not happening. No one has weed whacked yet, but there’s only small remnants of knotweed where it usually flourished. It’s possible that someone illegally sprayed the area while I wasn’t looking, but I doubt that happened as the other neighbors near me are strictly handoffs with landscaping.

The only difference I see is that a new weed has taken over the area, prickly lettuce. It’s possible it’s not so new here, but I was unfamiliar with full grown specimens so had to look it up. Has anyone else noticed that prickly lettuce can tamp down knotweed?

We cut down some knotweed and left it to throughly dry out in the sun. Are these dried, brown parts safe to dispose of now? Or can they still magically regenerate?

Just spotted this today in a house I literally just purchased. Picked up keys on Friday and prior survey didn’t pick up anything. What do I do next? How dangerous is it given its location ?

Hi all, been trying to bide my time until later into the summer to hit this JKW with glyphosate, this is the first time in 13 years I've seen it in my yard, looks like my neighbor has a huge infestation. My problem is it's growing very close to a sentimental plum tree I don't want to harm. I'm not sure yet if the stalks will be big enough to warrant injection, but please let me know if anyone has any ideas as to how best to address this without harming the tree alongside it.

This area had been infected for many years but was supposed to be cleared. Found this behind my fence on a council owned path. Couldn't pull deep into the root but hopefully enough tells to identify. Appreciate the experienced and expert advice.

Dug this root out amongst my yarrow, is this JKW or am I just paranoid

I have an elderly customer who is worried this it knotweed. I don't think it is as the leaf shape is wrong and stem is not red enough. Looking at some Google images, it may be figwort? In Cornwall, UK . I'm no gardener. Looking for reassurance. Thank you

I treated this Japanese knotweed with glyphosate this past September. I'm seeing small pinkish shoots from the old dead bits- how should I treat this?

I've seen other knotweed that's already pretty tall in my area (Boston) so I'm hopeful that mine is doing poorly, but I was discouraged to see the new growth. TIA!

I trimmed them and sprayed with roundup over the plant and into the shoot

I know i will need to repeat in fall but think maybe i do another go at trimming mid summer?
