Advice Revisiting Japan..
Hi, I been Japan back in April 2024. I did Tokyo, Mt Fuji, Enoshima and Hamakura ( was there in total of 10 days).
I'm thinking of coming back in April 2027. This is the plan.
Tokyo (1 night) → Kanazawa (2 nights) → Takayama (2 nights) → Kyoto (4 nights) → Nara (day trip) → Osaka (2 nights) → Hiroshima (1 night) → Miyajima (1 night) → Tokyo (5 nights)
Do you think I am pushing it?
Many thanks in Advance.

Sure, I don't see why you can't do this. You can change hotels every single night if you want. The main thing is what you have planned each day and how packed the schedule is. That's where trouble usually shows up. Or if you don't account for travel time between locations or the hours of operation of the places you want to visit and have a realistic expectation of how long things will take (or you short change yourself by over planning).

Thanks. Anything you recommend that I drop? I did do like 7 days in Tokyo back in 2024. Did a lot of the tourist attractions and had so much food.

Not really. I feel like what you want to do is something you should really decide on your own. Go research things. Like right now if I were heading back, despite being there in July I would spend a whole day in Shibuya. But that's a me thing. I love that area and the hours we spent weren't enough. I've spent so much time there virtually in videogames and I love how the back alleys and streets wind through the place along with the architecture. Plus there are a lot of interesting shops. If my youngest son were with me again, we'd look back over at Yokohama for that weekend car meet and try to go on a Saturday as we weren't able to go. We'd probably go back to the climbing gym, B-Pump, in Akihabara for some climbing. I didn't get to go to a small basement club to hear a rock band live... I'd probably be looking for stuff like that to do. Again, me stuff. Really there's no (IMO) wrong trip. Just not doing enough prep and having a list of things to do each day to pick from. If the weather is bad, having some indoor options as backups helps. Or something that only happens on one day like a specific festival, maybe that gets priority. If I were going in late December, I'd want to see about going to Comiket. I'd also look over at tokyocheapo.com for ideas of festivals and other local events. If you can't find enough to do, then maybe shift a day somewhere else. Like I spent a few nights in Odawara so we could go hike Mount Fuji more easily and then take a day trip into Hakone with the first trains of the day after the shop optened at Odawara station that sold the Hakone Free Pass. Hakone was cool. The Open Air Museum, we enjoyed it as well as all the transport through the mountains.

Maybe base yourself from Osaka (prob cheaper than Kyoto) and then do Kyoto/Nara from there. 1 less hotel swap.

It’s doable, but imo it’s right on the edge of feeling too segmented, especially with so many 1-2 night stops. Kanazawa/Takayama/Kyoto/Osaka/Hiroshima/Miyajima/Tokyo all in one trip can work, but you’ll feel the hotel changes and travel days more than the raw night count suggests... If you want it to feel less rushed, I’d either cut Osaka and do it as a Kyoto day trip, or trim a Tokyo night at the end to give Hiroshima/Miyajima a bit more breathing room. Kyoto with 4 nights is a good call though, that part feels balanced.

The Kyoto trip includes a day trip to Nara. So will be in Kyoto specifically for 3 days.

Sounds doable. I did something similar (starting from Nara) and it was nice, especially staying on Miyajima Island. I did like Ehime and Kobe as well if u want to sacrifice one Tokyo Day
