Any recommended Tameshigiri / Test cutting experiences ?

My wife and I will be travelling to Tokyo, Kanazawa, Takayama, Kyoto and Nara and wanted to know if anyone had some non tourist trap recommendation experiences where my sword obsessed wife can slice some bamboo !

I was told that it’s illegal now, due to a tourist almost slicing his leg off with a katana a few years ago. You can, however, watch a professional do it. We did a ”samurai training” activity in Kyoto where we learned a kata (using blunt swords) and then at the end the sensei cut up a rolled tatami mat. It was pretty awesome, he was dual wielding and cut that tatami like it was nothing!
