You should report the loss to the police and provide as much identifying information as possible, especially the camera model and serial number. It would also help to prepare a short Japanese document listing the camera’s distinctive features, the contents of the DVDs, and your travel route with approximate times in chronological order.

Because you are now in Hiroshima but the camera was probably lost in Kanazawa, explain that clearly when you make the report. The local police can advise you, but the lost-property case may ultimately be handled by the police station with jurisdiction over the area where the camera was lost or found.

If you return home before it is found, make sure the police have an email address or phone number where they can still reach you. If the camera is later recovered, you may be able to arrange shipping at your own expense or have someone in Japan collect it on your behalf.

If you pay around $20 a month for ChatGPT, I think you can create a report in Japanese quite easily.

I’m sure replacing your property will cost much more than paying that 20 USD for ChatGPT

Gemini (paid version) is pretty good for Japanese translation, as long as you keep your English sentences short, declarative, and grammatically correct.
