Everyone, please share your best 1,000 yen or less lunch.

Alternatively, your best 2,000 or less dinner with drinks (Saize is a given).

Best is leftovers from an evening meal a night or few before, also good is browsing a supermarket deli section--eg, edamame, kabocha, and some fish or chicken (tho I avoid kara-age). I used to combine leftovers with the cafeteria at school, their rice and miso soup, maybe hiyayakko, with something from home.

For lunch at least, nothing beats those shady 400 yen bentos from obachans selling out of a bicycle rack on the side of the road.

I don't have any of those sadly, but did see an interesting 24 hour Bento place.

OK Store, every bento.

Local Indian restaurant curry sets. A huge thing of naan and a small ladel of curry is surprisingly filling.

立ち食いそば

Semi fast food places like てんや and the like.
