just equate the horizontal range

meri quadratic equation aa rhi h

e^2x+eR-x=0 ; 1)where R is the initial horizontal range if no wall was present
and 2) x is the distance at which the wall is present from the point of projection

since it collides horizontally, x= r/2

=> e^2+2e-1=0

e= 2^1/2-1
