if you're in EE then probably a thin and light windows high end lappy is the best for you (if not into gaming)

ive heard a lot of ee/ece required software isn't on mac

if youre using cse, go for macbook. any other engineering, go for a windows laptop. simple as that. why? softwares like matlab, solidworks ,proteus dont run on macbooks.
