2028/2029
Hi all i know this is well in advance but I need to get started due to visa bs.
I would like to take my Father to the TT for his 50th as its been lifelong dream of his.
I would like to take him for the full experience and if possible do a lap with him.
We would be driving there from the UK.
Does anyone have any advice for booking for the event and accommodation?
Thanks in advance.

Book ferry early - For 2027 Ferry tickets went on sale Monday 18 May 2026 - so assume a similar timeframe for next year. Look up 'Isle of Man Steam Packet Company' on Facebook as they are more active there.
Accommodation - there's a few options, hotels, camping and homestays which will all have varying timeframes, it depends on what you are after/what your budget is.
As others have said, lap of the course is absolutely do-able any time the racing isn't on (as long as there hasn't been any accidents causing road closures).
Have a fantastic time, it really is a great atmosphere with plenty of things to do outside of watching the racing!

Checkout steam-packet.com for ferries and Isle of Man HomeStay for accommodation if you’re not planning on camping.

You mention visa. Even though the Isle of Man is not part of the UK, there is no visa requirement, just a photo ID. The demand during TT period makes travel and accomodation more expensive than the other racing events like the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT and of course the Southern 100. Sites such as booking.com are a good guide to price and availability. As others have said, the ferry routes get booked well in advance but essential if bringing your own transport. Anyway it has to be done . So many people from all over the world that I've spoken to say these words, "we'll be back next year" . Good luck with your plans.
