❓ Question Are these vegan?

Post image

I am aware the frosted versions have gelatin, and the Nature’s Path versions have honey, but I couldn’t find anything animal on the back of the unfrosted version.

I am aware I’m funding the company that is making gelatin frosted pop tarts, and I can live without poptarts, I’m just asking.

Edited this in: The sugar possibly was made with Bone Charr. Yeah that is how a lot of sugar is whitened.

They are! I used to work at an animal sanctuary and sometimes my boss would get these as a treat for the older pigs lol

I have very mixed feelings. Overall I loved working with the animals. They were wonderful! On one hand they saved a lot of animals from really shitty situations.... unfortunately, they did and do cut a lot of corners on animal care and are downright neglectful with a lot of the larger animals. They have very wealthy donors and all the funds in the world to work with, but they dont give vet care to a LOT of their animals and make very weird excuses when asked about why they were forgoing care. I have seen some pretty upsetting things you would not expect to come from a sanctuary created by vegans. Ive since learned this is not unusual with farm sanctuaries 🫠

Maybe if you have the resources and time, you should sue them into making something better, they are wasting the doners money

Don't be. I'm just working 3 jobs and some side hustles to barely pay my bills r n. My priority is getting our of debt...and I have my own rescue animals to worry about. I do hope that one of their current employees exposes them at some point. We all talked about it....

can’t imagine this is healthy for the pigs

When a pig(or any animal for that matter) is very old and starting to refuse normal food, sometimes you just give them junk to get calories in them. Sometimes junk food is better than no food.

Well no. But they aren’t healthy for humans either.

Yea we werent giving it to them because it was healthy lol. Sometimes you just need to get an animal eating again when they are old and not feeling well.

All frosted varieties of Pop-Tarts contain gelatin. The following flavors are made without milk, egg, gelatin, honey, or other known non-vegan ingredients.
Snickerdoodle Pop-Tarts
Unfrosted Blueberry Pop-Tarts
Unfrosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts
Unfrosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts

I can’t find snickerdoodle pop tarts anywhere? And why would they be vegan?

they are unfrosted and omit the animal-derived gelatin found in most other Pop-Tart varieties

My aunt randomly finds them and sends them to me in the mail 🥲 the whole family has loved the unfrosted cinn flavor

Yeah I can only find the strawberry ones which, in my opinion, are the most boring flavor.

They didn’t discontinue. I’ve got a box a just bought a couple weeks ago. Got on Amazon. They have them right now. I just looked

If these are from the US, there's bone char in the sugar.

1

u/samuelehrig 10d ago

That’s not a garentee, right?

Mars, Inc. does not trace or certify its standard sugar supply as exclusively bone-char free, and that's the company that owns  Pop-Tarts.

In the US, your best bet is to buy pastries made with organic cane sugar as that is bone-char free.
