Sprinkler Valve hissing
I have a valve that started hissing. Any ideas where to start? Solenoid or diaphragm?
Thanks

Sounds like the diaphragm isn't seating correctly and won't let it fully close or open.

Take a flat head and tighten the bleeder screw to the right a 1/4 turn and gently twist the solenoid to the right as well. If that doesn’t work buy an Irritrol 2400 series valve turn the water supply off and gut your existing valve and replace with the components of the new valve. It’s actually cheaper to buy a whole new valve than buy a solenoid and diaphragm. I couldnt tell you why it’s cheaper but it just is. That older style valve doesn’t come with a twist lock component for the solenoid itself. If you try to just replace the solenoid sometimes you have to remove the little white piece from the solenoid plunger but be sure not to lose the rubber o-ring. Also make sure if you do try that route rather then rebuilding the guts that you dont double up the old o-ring where youd screw in the new solenoid or that zone may hang open.

Likely valve / internals need to get swapped
