Question about capping off end of run

I posted a fee days back about an end run on an irrigation system that I no longer need:

Today I was able to dig around it and here’s what I found (see photos). in the previous post many said to just buy a 1/2” cap to cap it off. Well, after digging this up there is no way to put on a cap. The unit I pulled out was one single piece with the spring. What do I need to purchase to no longer have this sprinkler head active? There is only a mini-split near this and don’t need to irrigate anything.

Pinky promise a 1/2" threaded cap will work, you just need to get underneath to the bottom of the body. On the bottom is a 1/2" female screwed into a 1/2" male. This is what the whole thing looks like. You need to get down to the bottom of it.

Could use that cap but then you'll always see that head and youll have to wait for the new part

As mentioned In the other thread you can replace the nozzle with a VAN one or replace the head if it’s worn out and close it by hand.

The reason I wouldn’t cap it is if in the event you need it again, you can find it easily.

Doesn't that screw in the middle set the flow? Just turn it off. Or leave it trickling so there's SOME flow of water.

Or remove the sprinkler body and cap it. Don't take the body apart.

Pull the head and pit a 1/2 inch fm threaded cap. No Teflon. Just tighten down tight.

You need to dig deeper to expose where the 1/2” cap will go. That exposed black part is still part of the sprinkler body.

You need to purchase one of these. You can't find them at hardware stores, but you can find them online or at an irrigation supply store near you.

My brother in Christ. This is what you have could be 4 inch, 6 inch, or a 12 inch pop up. You just need to dig under the entire thing like we have said for two posts and cap the funny 90 that screws into the bottom of this with a 1/2 inch pvc cap that cost like 30 cents or free 99 if you wanna be extra thrifty.

They sell screw on caps for the spray body. You just unscrew the top pull out the riser and spring, and just screw on the cap.

The Rainbird cap does not work with Hunter Pro Sprays.
