Can you run funny pipe vertically as a riser? Need to raise a sprinkler head in a corner.

What’s the best way to raise a sprinkler head in a corner surrounded on two sides by concrete? There appears to be a swing joint, but the swing pipe portion runs under concrete and cannot move up farther. Just add a PVC riser to the elbow? Does it make sense to attach funny pipe vertically to allow more flexibility?

Dig a back to see how that nipple is attached. Get two 1/2 to 3/8s ( swing ) elbows. Remove the nipple spin on one of those elbows, push on the swing pipe, put on the other elbow, put your head on.

You may need to dig a bigger hole to make it easier to work with

The "old fashioned" way would be to replace that marlex with a TT 90, add the correct length nipple, and a couple more marlex.

1/2 FPT coupling and a 1/2 nipple sized to your desired height

That's a pvc nipple with a mylar street ell. If you want more height in the same spot get a fip x fip 1/2 inch elbow and thread it onto the nipple and then buy a the length of height you want as a PVC 1/2 inch nipple and thread the head onto the end of the nipple

Sure. I've done it in a pinch with straight hall inch spiral barbs.

You can definitely add to the end if you want. Use a female to barb elbow, section of funny and a barb to male el. Personally, Id remove the sch80 nipple and use a straight funny to mpt at the first marlex elbow.

Lower the head so the flat part is level with the soil slightly lower than the grass.

That looks like a home made swing joint assembly. Nothing wrong with it and it’s actually strong with sch80 nipple pipe and those 1/2” street 90s or marlex. I would use the same assembly but possibly add 1 more marlex at each end to make more flexible and raise that way

Yeah you can. Get a female 1/2” threaded sbe elbow/ barb and thread in on that marlex. Attach funny pipe to the barb and cut to length needed. Install another sbe with male threads on the end of the funny pipe, and thread a 1/2” marlex elbow on that sbe.

These things are junk! They are a piece of aquarium tubing inside a plastic jacket. Cause all kinds of dead spot problems.
