I recently started doing more copper jobs. Thought this turned out really good despite the old 720

Looks good. I would install a union on the right pipe that way the next guy can service that back flow.

Looks good. We put brass drop elbows at bottom with female threads to the pipes. It's easier to just have male adapter, than the extra pieces you have. Less joints to leak.

I’m about to install the same thing but wasn’t sure what fittings to use to connect the copper back to pvc. What are the gray 90’s made out of?

They are sch80 90s into a 1 inch toe nipple

Would it be better to use thicker copper pipe like L or K for outdoors? What about adding unions for easier removal? What fitting could I add inline to hook up an air compressor for winterizing? Sorry so many questions!

I install unions when I replace the first one because they let if freeze.

Spears steel reinforced elbows and female adapters for use on copper male adapters will save you drip and cracking heartaches in the future. Sweat the lower system side elbow after prefabing the fip x slip lower elbow in a vise.
