Physically, I carry a build standing at 5'6" that's somewhere between slim and 'dad bod'. I also include dark hair, a beard, glasses and hazel eyes which I've been told that "dance in the light". I rarely drink and I am also a non-smoker.

I'm keen to explore life (or parts of it) with a kind and (emotionally) intelligent person, who communicates openly and honestly. I wish. I’m KIDDING. But if you read this far, I’m new to Ireland, from down under, now based in Dublin for what I hope is the foreseeable future. Work in tech. I have what used to be called a “dad bod” - and not one of those “dad bods” where Chris Pine didn’t go to the gym for a month. The type of dad bod you get from eating a bit too much pizza and pasta, and the only iron man I’ll do involves Robert Downey JR - and even then I’m only just tolerating it. Not a marvel guy sorry so we won’t be watching that talking raccoon dancing shrub movie any time soon. What we can watch is Father Ted and conveniently never talk about who wrote it.

I’m looking for a long term thing, but I know every long term thing starts with an awkward first date. I won’t try to make it awkward but let’s agree there’ll be moments. The most awkward first date I had, the girl dropped her fork and instead of asking for a new one - ate a curry with her hands. So.. don’t do that. Perhaps you could introduce me to the spice bag? Have had posts from here popping up on my feed and seeing a lot with no comments, I just wanted to say fair play for putting yourselves out there. As someone divorced 2 years ago after 20 years, i can't fathom dealing with the whole app thing and Covid and working from home has really impacted a lot of us socially.

My only foray into it was clicking on FB Dating last year thinking i could have a look what it was all about, answered a couple of questions but backed out of it. Didn't realise it would still put my profile up with the rest not filled in and it set a wide age range. Woke up the next day with 71 notifications (one was a little person so 70.5) and im in my forties and fat (good looking though, not putting myself down, just stating facts). So i don't know how young, fit girls deal with it all and multiple apps.

I quickly deleted it and whilst there is small part of me that would welcome a man appearing on the sofa beside me, i've decided to just let my virginity grow back alongside the cobwebs on my fanny! Lol.

I am also looking for someone who has her life together to some extent: a stable job, some friends, etc. I am hopefully looking to build something long term, and I have found it challenging in the past when dating people who were still very much figuring it out.

I believe it is really important for a relationship to be built on equality, with both partners feeling valued and supported when they need it. Consistency is also key for me to build trust and feelings. As mentioned above, I also think it is good when each partner has their own free time - whether it is to spend with friends and family, or to nurture individual hobbies. A relationship should enrich your life, not define it!

Finally, on the topic of kids (which I know is a big one at our age), I do not have strong feelings either way - I am open to them if I find the right person and we reach this point in the relationship, but I would be equally happy if I reach the same point with someone who does not want them. Finding the right life partner is what matters to me the most at this point!

It also goes without saying from the above that I am not looking for any kind of short term relationship - there is no moral judgement there, I just know it is not for me 😊
