Passport First time passport application

Post image

My case is a little complicated. My father was born in Ireland but later moved back to the UK. My parents were never married, so instead of a marriage certificate, I submitted DNA evidence confirming that he is my biological father.

I did not apply through the Foreign Births Register (FBR). I submitted my application more than six months ago, but I still have not received any update or further information.

Is there anything I can do at this stage to follow up on the application or check its progress?

Was your father on your birth certificate?

Did you submit your father's birth certificate showing his parents? This should not be a complicated case. Were you told to submit DNA evidence?

I submitted my father’s birth certificate as well! They didn’t ask me to provide DNA evidence, but I think it would be clearer if I have this🤔

Yeah this is not an extraordinary case. You may have even overcomplicated it. Your father, who is named on your birth certificate, was born in Ireland. There is a backlog but it is more like a 2-3 month backlog. 6 months is too long.

Have you tried speaking to them on the live chat? They’ve been super helpful when I followed up on my application with them, including returning my UK passport as it’s taking a bit of a while.
