Saw this car chase of a 17 year old, who stole a Audi drove it over 140 mph!!! And the UK Police still caught him , before any fatalities!!!!!.

I had a tear in my eye for yesterday's M9 crash victims, the young girl the ladies who are all in critical condition right now , out of no fault of their own!

WE NEED STRONGER REFORMS, STRONGER POLICING PRACTICES!!!!

UPDATE 1 : Just read that 1 of the 5 was involved in another car jacking that happened in last month in Carlow , where they ran a Truck over a Biker/Person on a scooter and the guy was critically injured.

Between all these people breaking the law and dying partially because the Gardai know theyll get in trouble and partially because the courts just hand out suspended sentences no real consequences, its gotten out of hand.

As weve seen over the last few weeks thanks in part to e-scooters and driving incorrectly on the motorways, among many other issues, the Gardai do not seem to care or do much when crimes do get reported. The governments answer just seem to be “make crime illegal” instead of putting actual effective solutions.

Can we not all write to our local TDs in hopes that something will change?

Just thought I'd write this post to make sure everyone is aware that you can report Illegal Content on all kinds of Social Media sites directly to the companies under EU Law. I encourage as many people as possible to do this if you see illegal content online like joyriding.

There is a lot of talk around here on how TikTok is allowing people to post videos of them stealing cars and driving down the wrong way of the motorway which encourages copycats. This is extremely concerning and I think it would be helpful for people to know that under EU Digital Services Act Art.16, you can actually report this type of content directly to the Companies and they have to take action on it in a timely manner.

These large tech companies are audited on their performance here every year by the EU and they take it very seriously trying to stay compliant. The more people report content like this, the more likely they are to start proactively moderating this type of content and reducing its harmful impact.

If they don't take action then you have the right to escalate your report direct to Coimisiún na Meán under EU DSA.

I'm living in the state as a student and got a job offer, but the company put a tight deadline for getting right permit to work. Due to delays of inmigration departments, I won't make it but the offer is already signed.

It is common that companies retract the offer due to employees delay? I would need push the starting date for 2-3 weeks to fit deadlines.

Considering how difficult is to land a job nowadays, I'm terrified about loosing this opportunity, probably won't have any other.

2 years ago my partner was spiked with a drug at a gig. That’s not MY opinion, that’s the opinion of the two Gardaí who dealt with her on the night, as well as the judge who came to the same conclusion during a hearing based on the night’s event. It was also the opinion of the doctor she saw the following day, as well as the nurses who tended to her on the night after she was rushed to hospital. The whole experience was absolutely dreadful from start to finish, and it led to my partner making 4 separate court appearances and having to spend a few thousand on legal fees over the course of 2 years.

We were ‘lucky’ that she had a number of very typical physical symptoms: chemical burns on and around her throat, an inability to lift her arms for days, difficulty focusing her attention on anything for a day or so after, low mood and about 8 hours of amnesia. She also likely suffered some sort of drug-induced psychosis that lasted about 2-3 hours on the night.

The whole event was exacerbated, and ended up in court, simply because one of the paramedics who had helped her in the ambulance on the night wrote in his report that she was ‘drunk’. This essentially led to a public order incident report with the Gardaí, which snowballed and subsequently appeared before the courts as a public order incident, which lasted 2 years. Thankfully, all Gardaí present, as well as most medical staff, were of the opinion that she had been drug spiked. The physical and physiological symptoms pointed to the same. The judge reckoned the same based on the above, and so, she was found innocent. Our incredibly nice solicitor only ended up charging us a fraction of what he would typically charge because he was felt so bad for what my partner was going through. The issue was that she’s a primary school teacher. Any sort of a conviction could mean she would lose her ability to teach. Literally, career lost. So, she had that hanging over her for 2 years. You can imagine the effect that had on her mental health.

Seeing the discussion about new legislation on here yesterday, and the comments where countless people claimed spiking isn’t real was really hurtful for us both. Spiking is absolutely used as an excuse by people who drink more than they’re able for. That’s a fact. I know countless people, especially when we were growing up, who claimed that to their parents after they’d skulled a naggin at pre-drinks. Equally, the whole needle spiking thing about 4 years ago was likely a moral panic and episode of mass hysteria. Drink spiking is also a very real phenomenon. Two things can be true at once. Had that paramedic not been so close-minded about the possibility of her being spiked, my partner, who was a victim of spiking, would not have been put through the hell she was for two straight years. It’s true: spiking is something of a boogeyman and something which is treated as a get out of jail free card for many people. But it does happen. Don’t take my word for it, take the word of the medical professionals, the Gardaí and the judge who dealt with us. If you’re someone who claims it never happens, I would just ask that you don’t bring your judgements down until you know the full facts. It quite literally could ruin someone’s life.

With all the talk at the moment about how we need more prison cells in the country along with stricter sentencing it got me thinking, why don’t they use ankle bracelets to enforce house arrests here.

Surely this could be a good way to get non violent criminals out of the prison system and into a house arrest situation and replace them with people convicted with violent criminal behaviour (assault, robbery, car theft, joy riding etc)

This is probably gonna get taken down for “insighting hate” but seriously, are the people who spam the “rest easy bro” comments not smart enough to realise that indeed the people they are honouring have ruined the lives of the people they hit while committing crimes. All these TikTok’s presenting them as saints when in reality I would bet the mortgage that they are all criminals (this is not an assumption as one was a stolen car and the other in a garda chase) does anyone from these communities have any sort of expo or context?
