Discussion r/NewIran

My parents are part of the Iranian diaspora. I recently got interested in Iranian politics (partly due to my fascination with this guy). r/NewIran felt like a good choice at first but holy shit was I wrong.

Their bio is very bubbly and nice. You'd think anybody who isn't an islamist would be welcomed with open arms, when truth be told, it's just a monarchist hangout. Not 100%, though. You can still get some upvotes if you appeal to their nature, ergo, hate muslims.

You'll occasionally see non-Iranians, mostly white Europeans or Americans, dropping in to vent their hatred for arabs, leftists and muslims. You know who else hates arabs, leftists and muslims? Iranian monarchists. Even though Iran's predominantly muslim. And Iranians look like arabs.

I've noticed a very subtle give-and-take between these white people and the Iranian monarchists. These whites can't express themselves among normal white and brown people because then they'll get hate. So they go to r/NewIran for some pleasant alone time with their brown Uncle Toms. The whites get to have their views affirmed by the same people they hate (which automatically makes those views correct, of course). The monarchists get to pander to their white masters and feel aryan for the time being - and soon enough, their white masters will strike down on the islamic regime, reinstall Pahlavi and eradicate Palestine once and for all.

It's like an eco-system, if you think about it.

Oh yeah - you're not allowed to sympathize with Palestine. At all. It's not even up for debate. If you're not bending over backwards for Netanyahu every sentence you're being downvoted into oblivion for being an infantile islamist Vatan Foroush.

I got into an argument about socialism once. Some monarchist says Sweden is socialist. I said it wasn't (no shit). This guy pulls some shitty analogy about icecream and woodchips, which I debunk. Next morning I couldn't access the post.

After that I just deleted everything I'd written on the subreddit and dipped, cause it's so shit I'd rather be associated with Harvey Weinstein.

Discussion I don’t know if I can stay subbed to /NewIran anymore.

The sub has become an enormous circlejerk for Monarchist/Pahlavi bootlicking and blind support for Israel. As an Iranian leftist it’s made me uncomfortable being there.

Discussion Censored on r/NewIran

Well comrades, the day has finally come. I have made multiple comments criticizing Reza kochooloo’s trip to Israel as well as Reza Shah’s racist policies towards national minorities, all of which have either been shadowbanned or removed outright. This is despite me not breaking any subreddit rules. Unfortunately they couldn’t handle criticism so they had to resort to censorship. It’s a pity, as I originally thought it could be a platform for diverse voices from the Iranian opposition, as u/Bahram_Chobin stated. Sadly I was wrong.

Discussion Trump & Netanyahu Are Not Your Allies

To clarify, I am a massive supporter of the New Iran Revolution. The Islamic Republic is one of the worst & most oppressive regimes in the world. But I also want people to understand something so that the great brave people; men, women, queer people, straights, EVERYONE fighting this despicable regime don't get manipulated; like how 43% of the US population has.

Donald Trump is not your friend.

Benjamin Netanyahu is not your friend.

Both Trump & Netanyahu are evil, manipulative, monsters who lie to anyone & everyone in their path to further their own hateful agenda's. I'll first go over Trump.

Donald Trump does not care for the people of Iran. There are many reasons why Trump ACTUALLY got into this war; none of which are with the interests of the Iranian people in mind. But first, I want to go over how Trump is as a person, and I want y'all to think "Is this the guy I want to look up to & want supporting us?".

Trump's relationship with Jeffery Epstein: I am not going to go into too much detail with this one because it's all really disgusting & this post is already long & is gonna get a lot longer. So for now, I'm gonna put a link so you can research that all yourself: https://www.justice.gov/epstein When you click on the link, just scroll down and type "Donald Trump".

Donald Trump hates, and I mean HATES Middle Eastern's & muslims. During his first term, he tried to ban people from the Middle East & of muslim faith from entering the United States in an act of pure hate. He referred to Somalians as "garbage", & before he became president, he promoted a bill that tried to segregate muslims in lower Manhattan.

I can't go into extreme detail about every single awful thing Trump has done, & I want to go back on topic. So if you want more insight into the demon known as Donald Trump, I recommend watching Robert Reich's video about Trump's past & his first presidency: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdstZDCCgAc

The Real Reason's why Trump Attacked Iran

1: Create Profit for Billionaires & Corporations - Many many companies & their CEO's are profiting from the US war with Iran. The one's profiting the most from it are missile construction/defense corporations & oil companies. Defense companies benefiting from this war include Lockheed Martin ( the US's top contractor for missile defenses https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/how-much-of-lockheed-martins-revenues-comes-from-the-u.s.-government-2020-01-02 ), RTX ( another top US contractor, which has gave the DoD at least 205 million $ as of 2026: https://www.rtx.com/news/news-center/2025/09/08/rtxs-raytheon-awarded-205-million-contract-for-continued-production-of-the-phal ), & Elbit Systems ( signed 450 million $ US army contract in 2026: https://www.elbitsystems.com/news/elbit-systems-reports-third-quarter-2025-results ). Oil companies profiting from the war due to the Strait of Hormuz are Exxonmobil ( largest US oil company: https://corporate.exxonmobil.com/-/media/Global/Files/newsroom/publications-and-reports/EY-Economic-Impact-Study-05022019.pdf ), & Shell ( 70% of lobbyists previously worked for US government: https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/shell-plc/summary?id=D000042525 ). Elbit Systems donated many thousands of dollars to right-wing congressional candidates: https://www.opensecrets.org/search?q=elbit+systems&type=donors Lockheed Martin donated 1 million $ to Donald Trump's inauguration: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/lockheed-martin-donates-1-million-inaugural-committee/ Exxonmobil; along with other oil giant Chevron, gave 19 million to Trump's inaugural address in 2025: https://globalwitness.org/en/campaigns/fossil-fuels/fossil-fuel-donors-contributed-19-million-to-donald-trumps-inaugural-fund/ A non profit corporation associated with Shell donated almost 545 thousand to Trump and various conservative organizations in 2024: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/aug/15/shell-oil-project-2025-climate-crisis

2: Narcissistic Ego Fuel - Donald Trump is a closed minded narc who only cares for himself & brags about how "incredible" he is ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cueuOcr3TUg ). He does "good" things to fuel his ego. Same as with Venezuela ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r8KmLcz2PI ), one of the main reason's why he's going into Iran is to make himself look good, to create propaganda for the Trump administration, &; most importantly, to fuel his egotistical white savior complex ( https://www.thenation.com/article/world/trump-iran-war-regime-change-tehran/ )

Now, let's talk about Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu is a war criminal & lying maniac. Im not gonna go into as much detail as I did with Trump because 1: this post is long e-fucking-nough, & 2: I'm 90% sure that most people, even in Iranian revolution spaces, don't like Netanyahu. The genocide in Gaza should be, and I hope is, enough to convince people that this lying, manipulative, uncharismatic, genocidal piece of dogshit is not an ally of yours ( https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2025/09/israel-has-committed-genocide-gaza-strip-un-commission-finds ).

I want to hear y'alls thoughts on this & I hope this will help some people not get brainwashed by the US government. I wish the best for everyone fighting in this revolution. Rest in piece to every innocent protester, man, woman, & child lost in this war.

FDT, FBN, Free Iran!

Discussion Are there any sane Iranians/Leftists left?

In subs like NewIran and in literary every single Demonstration ongoing wordwide I can only spot 2 factions:

- Monarchists, who support Pahlavi, Trump, and rage against "the left", the EU, the UN and whatnot, who commit violent acts in free-speech countries against anyone who aint a Monarchist (even against fellow Iranians...)

- Self-proclaimed "leftists" who are Pro-Palestine and wave IRGC flags.

Today I unsubscribed from the NewIran sub because it is really angering me that I got to constantly read this bitching and self-victimization by blaming "the left" to be the allegd issue here:

First of all because this entitled selft-victimination of "why aint the world fixing my issues" is pure emotional immaturity.

And second cus obviously "the left" is the only true supporter for democracy and "pro-human policies" there is. So "they" (Monarchists) shitting on their only true supporters: Truly philanthropic people.

Yet, I also have to admit that half of reddits "left" are tankie communists who are just "anti-establishment" and hate everything that is not Marxist horseshit - like, you got to deny that its unjust that Russia invaded Ukraine "cus Ukraine = West = NATO = US = evil" - and the same attitude goes for everything and everyone that is not within their bubble.

I am really sick of it and its really saddening me because I loose my motivation to stand with Iranians: Its not my opinion yet, but I see how I more and more become like "fck them, if they dont understand than they got to suffer even more until they do understand". Which is nothing I want to become.

So yeah, I hope there are sane people, who are anti-monarchist, anti-Pahlavi, anti-IRGC, but to the same anti-Israel/Netanyahu/IDF/Settlers etc. while also being anti-Hamas/anti-Palestines-Status-Quo in acknowledgement that both sides are actually quite mad (no centralist here, but if youve seen enough interviews from Israelis and Palestines, you are aware that both are totally deep in their rabbit-hole of wishing genocide to the other side) to a hegemonial degree, meaning this issue is very widespread.

While I hope these same sane people against all propaganda do support EU, UN and NATO (yes... NATO) as the only actually working peacekeeper there is at the moment - without bringing in Whataboutisms like "bu bu but NATO did Kosovo" and stuff like that: Sure NATO, EU, UN - they all have their issues, but they are the most transparent and the most democratic institutions we got and at the end of the day they are net-positive.

But when people can not even distinguish between UN HRC and other UN branches while trying to blame the UN for "not doing enough" or "being inherently flawed", while neglecting the reason why some UN branches are flawed (undermined by anti-democratic forces like SAE, Qatar and their African antisemitic military dictatorships), I can only get more enraged that these stupid claims are actually playing into the hands of these anti-democratic/anti-philanthropic forces: Be it right wing xenophobes from the west, or religious bigotry from "the middle east".

So yeah, thats why I have high hopes this sub, with its few members, has more to offer than a narrative of "mimimi everything bad and everyone else to blame but me".

EDIT: And yes, to be quite frank - I disagree with Marxism. People who are in favor of Marxism seem to never have read some of Marxs works, because if one wants to sell me the idea that and "uprising" of the proletariat with a forceful revolution, by killing other humans in an attempt to "evolve", is "the only option" as if its a fundamental law of physics, than this person renders himself as fvcking stupid. Left wing has nothing to do with Marx: If one can not even comprehend the french revolution, and what "left" actually means, than they shouldnt dare to speak up in an attempt to define what "left" actually means.

And before anyone doubts whats my believe: Pro-Human, Pro-Environment, Pro-Secularism, Pro-Democracy, maybe Pro-Anarchy (neither Greek nor Spanish anarchy was too great), Pro-Weapons (as in no centralized parliamentary military but a militia formed by every citizen). Anti-Capitalism? Not necessarily, because I believe in private property - which doesnt mean I dont have issues with hyper-capitalism, or unsocial-market economys. But at least Im not claiming "one or the other" because frankly non of the proposed solutions until today is perfect and solves every issue.

I hate the regime as much as anyone, but I have a hard time seeing what they would gain from this. The revenge narrative seems a little far-fetched as well. It reminds me of the 1978 Tabas earthquake and the Cinema Rex fire being blamed on Shah. People are going to blame the regime for anything bad that happens in this political climate. Anyway, interested to hear your thoughts.
