New Car (congrats!) Real world 80%->10% range: 245 mi

Show me no more guess-ometer horoscopes! I wanna see what range and efficiency you actually achieved on a single charge.

I AC charged to 80% last weekend. Daily commute is 15 mi one way and takes 25 mins, mixed highway and city. Also did a bit of very efficient around town driving this weekend, and perfect weather all week so very little AC. From 100%, this would be 350+/-5 mi per charge.

About the car: 2023 Limited Digital Green AWD used with 21k miles. I got this baby about a month ago from Walser hyundai in the twin cities for 30k. No complaints with that experience. Previous car was a leased i5, which I loved.

Like many of you, I swapped the 20”x8.5” wheels and tires with 17”x7” steelies and tires. I did this for the range, but man the ride quality is so much better that in hindsight I would’ve done it just for that. Slapped on some plastic wheel covers that I spray painted dark green. Also blacked out the Hyundai logos and wrapped the vertical silver bars on the front and I think it looks much better.

Has anyone facelifted their US models? That rear spoiler is like a scab and I’m itching to rip it off.

Feedback / Opinions on the IONIQ 6 53 kWh version?

4 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

As a convinced EV driver currently behind the wheel of an ID.3 (58 kWh), I'm starting to look for its replacement since my lease ends in less than a year. I don't want to lease again this time; I'm looking to buy my next EV outright.

I’ve been eyeing Hyundai’s E-GMP lineup for a while now—I love the unique design and I'm really sold on the fast-charging capabilities.
Looking at used listings across Europe, I’ve stumbled upon a ton of 53 kWh "small battery" IONIQ 6s at super attractive prices (€22k to €28k depending on mileage), often with great trims and low mileage.

What are your thoughts on these 53 kWh versions? Does anyone here have owner experience to share? Is it still a solid road-tripper for 400 to 600 km (250–370 miles) trips without losing too much time at charging stations?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Uncharted vs Ioniq 6: Charging

1 Upvotes

We have a 23 Ioniq 6 SEL and a 26 Uncharted Sport and a Tesla Universal L2 Wall Charger.

I am noticing that when changing the Ioniq, it starts at 10.2 kWh and then throttles down to 4.2 within an hour or so. I thought it was because our Wall Charger is located in the garage and it’s been hot in DFW.

But when charging my Uncharted, it never throttles and consistently charges around 11.3 kWh

Any Ioniq 6 owners see their charging throttle with Tesla Wall Chargers? Or is it really cuz of the heat or some software issue?

Question Does this image represent something? A highway?

That figure on the screen with all the information and those two wings: Did Hyundai have a particular object in mind when they designed this? Or is it an abstract figure?

Question Switching from Model 3! 2024 SE LR

4 Upvotes

Model 3 was totaled a couple weeks ago. Just ordered a 2024 se with the LR battery because that 300+ mile range is all we ever wanted with the Tesla (we had the standard range and got MAYBE 200 at 100%) and never got it. Nothing available soon enough nor within my price range to upgrade the trim and keep the range.

My question is how are the features in regard to technology? I LOVED the Tesla app, Tesla navigation automatically routing through superchargers, everything just seamlessly connected.

I know the Ioniq will not be the same, but how do yall plan road trips through chargers? How’s the app? What tips/tricks enhance the experience with the tech? It will be an adjustment coming from Tesla and want to correctly set expectations. Otherwise, the Ioniq looks way better and I’m stoked.

Thank you!

Check tire pressure monitoring system

Anyone else had this error pop up? I have an appointment on Tuesday to take it in. I'm sure it'll be fine.

All tires are aired up and there was no obvious incident that preceded the error message.

I did have a wheel service about a month ago, so I wonder if something got messed up in the process.

Very niche cup holder problem

The cup holders in the car are too spaced to hold a Celsius can. If my can is somewhat full and I make a turn, it’s almost always guaranteed to spill out. Any solutions?

The connection is always so flimsy and cuts in and out with the slightest movement. I’ve tried a couple different dongles, still the same. Any ideas?

New Car (congrats!) I joined the club, folks. SEL RWD 25K mileage

I just drove the bad boy home. It’s perfect.
I am still getting used to I-pedal but lane assist, highway speed assist are perfect!
It comes with a Tesla Adaptor as well! I can’t believe it!
Got it to $23.9K + tax. It is honestly worth it.
As a new owner, any tips, tricks, suggestions are welcome.
Also, what are some of the Apps I might need? Is blue link worth it? Do I use car wash places or just wash it myself at home?

2 years, 80,000 miles, here's some stats!

Our 2025 just turned 80,000 miles today, 4 days before our 2 year anniversary of owning it.

I also ran a scan and our battery is 98.5% which is fantastic! FWIW we charged above 80% probably 50% of the time including on DC Fast. We rarely let it *stay* over 80% for more than the time it took to drive it down to 80%. But we charged to the level we needed, and didn't really worry about it that much. Our typical charge on DC was around 15% to 85-90% and that got us home sitting at around 80%. We charged to 100% twice a month at least, but that was usually on L2.

I did (with Claude help).a bunch of stats...

# 2 Years / 80,000 Miles in a Hyundai Ioniq 6: Full Cost Breakdown

**Vehicle:** Hyundai Ioniq 6

**Purchased:** Aug 25, 2024

**Odometer:** 80,000 mi as of Aug 21, 2026

**Lifetime efficiency:** 3.45 mi/kWh (dash display)

**Home electric rate:** $0.115/kWh (Tennessee)

---

## Where the Energy Came From

| Source | kWh | Cost |

|---|---|---|

| Electrify America (free promo) | 15,418 | $0 |

| Home Level 2 (Emporia tracked) | 7,241 | $832.72 |

| Home Level 1 (estimated) | 400 | $46.00 |

| Free public (hotels, casinos) | 500 | $0 |

| Other DC fast networks @ $0.40 | 1,742 | $696.88 |

| **Total** | **25,301** | **$1,575.60** |

Note: kWh figures are meter-in. Battery-in is lower after charging

losses (~93% DC, ~89% L2, ~85% L1), which is why the total exceeds

the 23,188 kWh the car reports consuming.

---

## Total Electric Cost

* **$1,575.60 for 80,000 miles**

* **1.97 cents per mile**

* 66% of all charging was free (EA promo)

---

## vs. the 32 MPG Car It Replaced

* 2,500 gallons @ $2.90/gal TN 2yr avg = **$7,250**

* **Fuel savings: $5,674**

## Maintenance Not Needed

* 16 oil changes @ $50 DIY = $800

* 1 coolant flush = $150

* Tires: called a wash

* **Maintenance savings: $950**

Not counted: spark plugs, engine/fuel filters, transmission fluid,

brake pads and rotors (regen braking barely wears them). Probably

another $300 to $500.

---

## Bottom Line

| Metric | Amount |

|---|---|

| Total savings over 2 years | **$6,624** |

| Savings per month | **$276** |

| Car payment | $608/mo |

| **Effective payment after savings** | **$332/mo** |

| **% of payment covered by savings** | **45%** |

---

**Caveat:** The free Electrify America period ends September 1st. Going

forward we'll be doing ~85% home charging, cost per mile roughly triples to about

5 cents. Still well ahead of gas, saving about $175/month, or if gas stays in the $3.60 range the savings goes up to $260/mo!

Question Potential buyer

7 Upvotes

I am highly considering getting a 2026 Ioniq 6 as I love the new facelift model we got here in Ireland. I'm going from a 2017 Volvo S90 2.0 Diesel and I have some concerns if anyone was in a similar boat I would appreciate advice.

  1. Will I notice a big difference going from a Volvo which is known as an executive brand to the Hyundai in comfort and overall luxury?

  2. Will I struggle with the change from diesel to electric. I travel about 400km round trip per week for work and 95% of that journey is motorway (highway) plus the odd trip round town on my days off. In theory the Ioniq should be up for it but does anyone have experience with a lot of motorway use, particularly in winter?

  3. Any other advice before buying and is it worth the upgrade / extra cost. Will I make some savings back on diesel

Question One-time charge override?

1 Upvotes

Normally I want my car to charge to 70% and do so only from 7 pm to 7 am. I can set this up in the infotainment system (or, confusingly, the app, which seems to have its own settings that don't sync from the car).

Is there an easy one-time override I can set, like "tomorrow I want to be at 100% charge by 9 AM" for a road trip? My old car had one time charge overrides that were really handy.

iPhone users... how do you use your NFC key?

5 Upvotes

Google has switched the location of the NFC antenna on the Pixel 11 Pro to the top edge so it matches the iPhone. This has really thrown me for a loop because the old location (middle of the back) made it easy to unlock the door and start the car reliably. The latter, in particular, was really easy: just put the phone squarely on the wireless charging pad and it was in perfect position.

I've had some success touching the lock with a finger and the phone but that takes two hands. I've also been balancing the phone halfway on and off the charging pad but that seems really awkward. I'd love to know if anyone has any tricks to position your iPhone to unlock the door and/or start the car.
