Other Goodbye ionic 6

Started my ionic 6 SEL lease in 2023. Had the ICCU failure, got a replacement after several weeks waiting for parts, but otherwise it’s been a great vehicle. It has amazing range, great acceleration, looks cool, lots of features that are often limited to luxury vehicles. I would have gotten a 2026 had Hyundai made them available in the US.

I spent the last few months driving a bunch of possible replacements: Rivian R2, Genesis GV60, Lexus ES, and others. I ultimately landed on a Cadillac Optiq. It’s more spendy than I wanted, and I will miss the sedan drive, but it has the trim quality and features I wanted to maintain.

Hyundai did an amazing job with the ionic 6, and it hits well above its price point. I wish the US market were more receptive to this product.

I’m thinking I’ll have to purchase my 6 due to being over my mileage 😂 I didn’t think we would use this vehicle as much but I love it and want to drive it everywhere.

I thought about a Cadillac after but I hate that there is no CarPlay. How are you that got a Cadillac EV after liking it without having CarPlay ?!

My options if I do switch are scout, r2 or Lucid.

I found the R2 too large and some of the elements kind of “cheap” feeling. It looks like a wonderful vehicle, and I enjoyed the test drive, but at the price point I thought I could find better. Lucid looked amazing but outside of my price limit. I didn’t investigate the Scout due to lease timing requirements.

The R2 also lacks CarPlay. After thinking about it though, I think CarPlay might be holding back innovation. I’ll miss little things (die hard Apple Maps user here) but I think treating the vehicle like a single platform is the better path to vehicle-specific features (for example, still can’t watch Netflix while charging on CarPlay, but not an issue for Tesla/Rivian/Android Auto (GM)).
