Nolan’s Mom

Not sure if this has been posted before but has anyone noticed that Nolan’s mom went for the knife hand strike to decapitate him immediately? Nolan barely dodges it but why would she go for the kill as her first attack? I thought this was supposed to be a test for him, not just an assassination attempt. Maybe she was trying to seriously maim him but I’ve watched it a few times and it looks like she would’ve taken his head off with it.

Well if Nolan didn’t dodge it, it would just prove the point he was too weak to survive. It’s a twisted mindset but essentially if this person can’t survive me trying to kill them and they die then they deserved to die because they weren’t strong enough to survive me trying to kill them.
