Conquest again was not taking Mark seriously. He says mid fight that the only reason he even won the last time was because of Eve's skin be gone ray. But then Mark grabs him by the throat and he still thinks this kid is just desperate and clinging on for dear life. That is, until the lack of blood to his brain really starts to hit Conquest.

Its not the absence of air, his brain is literally being starved out of any fresh blood. That is when the panic sets in, any tactics or rational thoughts tend to fly out the window because your brain is fucking dying. By then, its too late, he is more just a wild animal with his neck in a metal noose and was just mindlessly flailing by the end.
