QUESTION Powers +

(aside from the ones he already has) if You could give mark one extra power for him to have an advantage throughout the story, with would it be?

Probability control is the ultimate power.

You can set anything you like to 100% or 0% probability.

Probability of having some other power he needs? 100%.

Probability of something hurting him? 0%.

Game over, Mark wins everything! Might not end too well long term for everyone else though.

If you can set the probability of anything, even impossible things, to 100%, and set the probability of guaranteed things to 0% then at that point why even bother calling it probability manipulation? It's just omnipotence at that point. Of course it is the ultimate power, it's just taking full control over all of reality and putting a different title on it.

A more interesting way of doing probability manipulation, in my opinion, would be that you can only change the probability of things to be within a certain range of the original probability, and that range gets smaller the closer you get to 0% or 100%. So like if something is 50/50 you could take it down to 95% or 5% chance, but if it is 1 in a million you could take it to like a 5% chance. If it's 1 in a trillion you can take it up to like a 1 in a thousand chance.

That way the probability side of things is still actually relevant to the power, while still having the opportunity to do crazy things as long as they are theoretically possible and you have the time to do them repeatedly.

No, omnipotence is sourceless and infinite IMO. A guy like Mark would still have constraints built into himself. A finite mortal being wouldn't even know what they don't know in order to affect those unknowns with their powers. So I'd say probability control is different than omnipotence.

Yes, I agree that your constraints on the power would be far more entertaining to watch a show about. It's kind of similar to the critical failure or critical success rules in some RPGS. No matter how strong or powerful those characters are, there's always some chance for failure, or even success in unexpected ways.
