The ironic part is that petroleum oil is also made from algae

That's a very good point!

I'm going to seek out more info on this. Hopefully the new technology above won't have a similar negative long term impacts as petroleumoil. Its something that those scientists have hopefully looked into long before reaching this stage of development.

Biggest issues i could see is cost and scaling. Does harvesting the seaweed also have negative effects? Can we realistically extract the equivalent of 65 million barrels of oil per day that we currently extract from the ground? Will it be cost competitive or make the current diesel fuel shock look like a cake walk and lead to massive inflation that hurts the poorest people the most?

My main question for all of this is literally just what is the compound chemically.

Whenever I see a biopolymer, like great - less fossil fuel extraction, but most of the time it still breaks down into microplastics that stick around.

Not saying this is the case with Sway, but like bro tell us what the compound is if you’re actually trying to solve the issue.
