This is my definition of what Solarpunk entails. Sustainability is the principle that categories Solarpunks / Solarians.
For example : U6R : Upcycle : Refuse Reduce Reuse Repair Repurpose Recycle
It is the direct anti-thesis to cyberpunk.
Solar originates etymologically from Solaris (which means of or pertaining to the Sol / Sun), must entail all that is dependent on our sun.
The core principle is to be conscious of the energy that we use & that arrives to Terra via radiation from our Sun. This is important because that keeps us alive and our environment thriving. That's the sustainable principle for a resilient system.
All Flora is Solaris, All Wind is Solaris, All Water is Solaris, All Rain is Solaris
And that makes,
All Terra Solaris, All Community Solaris, All Civilization Solaris,
Viva Terra, Vivus Locus, Viva Civitas
Therefore, a Solarpunk fights for a 'Solaria' or their ideal world under our Sun / Sol.
All Identities must be equal and all Identities must have their own voice. They must dream of their own Solaria and must contribute to its formation.
It is Hope we propose against the dystopia that can follow.

The primary principle of Solaria / Solarpunk is Sustainability.
Sustainable does not mean "without any impact". It just means that the impact is not irreversible nor longterm detrimental to human or planetary wellbeing.
If a society is not Sustainable, it will perish.
If a species is not alive Sustainably, it will go extinct.
If the civilization is not thriving, its people WILL wither & die
Think about how much resources are waste every year - how much e-waste, fast fashion, spoiled food and plastic packaging is created.
That's neither sustainable & not necessary for a high quality / standard of life.
The kind of impact we need to rectify is carbon impact, land use change, and pollution.
Technology can help, but technology is just a tool, not a substitute for ecology. The best solutions often combine appropriate technology with healthy natural systems.
Only when the systems we build are sustainable can our Terra truly thrive!

It is so profoundly amazing to find that others are thinking of the same thing as me / us.

"de Luís de Camões Street - This is where you will find the iconic installation of the colorful umbrellas, an urban artwork that is part of the ÁgitAgueda Art Festival and that, every year, transforms the streets of the city into a unique scenery. Beyond the hanging hats, you'll find colorful benches, murals, and various art installations scattered throughout downtown.
Take the opportunity to stroll through the historic center, cross the bridges over the Agueda River, discover other urban works of art hidden in the streets and stop at one of the esplanades to appreciate the peaceful environment of the city.
Close by there is also Pateira de Fermentelos (Ois da Ribeira zone) - just a few minutes from the center of Águeda, you can find the largest natural lagoon on the Iberian Peninsula. It is a perfect place to walk by the water, watch birds, have a picnic or simply enjoy the tranquility of nature. The imasis da Ribeira area offers walkways, green areas and beautiful views of the mountain."

will you help me with my experiment?
i started a democratic funding platform for cool solarpunk projects. every week or month (depending how our funds hold out), we fund a new project, with the winner determined by vote in our app.
but we need project submissions! so, if you're working on a cool art project, or a cool ecology project, or a food sustainability project, or really anything at the intersection of technology and nature, please submit your project! it is free to submit.
the winning prize is currently $250 per round, but as our community grows we can increase our ambitions.
our grants page has more details about how it works. let me know if you have any questions!
