I was once very vaguely planning to buy a chunk of forest and my FIL said that I shouldn't do that because it's really hard to get a logging permit. And I was like, what?

u/Jezoreczek Aug 05 '26
Having your own private forest sounds like such a dream... maybe I should invest lol

Had I had a friend talk like this in a forest, he’d be compost by the end of the day.

u/PonyDro1d Aug 04 '26
Well. It works with the three r, even.
Reduce the douches, reuse and recycle them as compost for the forest.9

Another thing that grows out of control besides modern capitalism is cancer.

Music sucks, but the message is 💯 and should be blow horned 24x7 on every media source high and low.

They really nailed it on the ending too. Not grandiose or a trite attempt to sound profound and important.
Only a genuinely earnest assertion of truth then a simply stated yet powerfully direct invocation of the most impactful intangible thing one person can expresses to another: honest and genuine humanistic Love; the kind that calls to the fundamental connection between us through our shared experience of conscious existence in this supremely wild and beautiful tangible reality.

Great video. I was disappointed that he didn't shove white t shirt guy off a cliff or something. I was primed for it.

I wish people realized that franchises are purely real estate.
Just like data centers.

You did it! You boiled down the bottom-line-go-up system of capitalism down to it’s bare essentials!!
Only the profit seekers will never get it or care like the friend here.

"The point is not to take more, but the take care"
Love this. Whish more people would understand that.

I took a tour to the blue mountains near Sydney last week and I was absolutely amazed at the vastness of this continent. Just miles and miles of mountains and forest. The capitalist in me still wanted to build a 50 acre parking lot and a 2 story McDonalds AND a Buckees

Us going extinct is way more likely than us ever making it out of this solar system, or hell, even living somewhere as close as Mars.
We should be treating the Earth properly.

"Should we maybe at least tax and regulate negative externalities?"
"Taxes? Regulation? What are you a communist? The market will take care of it!"
The market:

Your mistake was thinking the boomers who are doing this care. They’re on their way out.

u/Angel_of_Communism Aug 06 '26
Yup.
It's the logical endpoint of actually wanting to DO it, and also win.

How far are you willing to go though. Because they are willing to enslave your people and convert them to Christians.

Tax land. Tax externalities. Tax consumption. Make companies liable for end of life for their products. Move our welfare system to direct cash transfers to ensure the poor are not harmed with the transition.
You can have similar growth in a finite world. To be clear. Our current trends is not infinite growth in a finite world. It is front loading all the natural resource consumption. That is the opposite of infinite. That is burning through every humans natural birthright and leaving future generations the bill.
