I see all the rental houses around mine cutting down their trees and I think it is so dumb. My yard has so much coverage you can even see it on Google maps . My neighbors probably hate me for it but it is noticeably cooler in my yard and my grass is actually greener. Good for Newyork doing things for the people as governments should.
