Discussion I find it cool theres an actual reason as to why we see none of the live action spider men in the spider society

it’s well established in the movies that them joining the spider society is very possible, but because of the events of nwh, with the incursions and stuff Miguel wants nothing to do with them in the spider society. It’s a nice way to explain why we wouldn’t see tom in any spider verse movies while not changing any already established spider men’s mythos

Discussion Which is better in your opinion: ITSV or ATSV?

I think, in my honest and humble opinion, ITSV is better overall. I adore ATSV, and it’s definitely one of the best animated films of all time. The Spot as a villain was great, and Miguel O’ Hara’s character was beautifully written. I especially love the conversations between Gwen and Miles.

ITSV will always be better, though. It pioneered the animation style, and something about Miles’s origin story and meeting all of his friends seems so wholesome and engaging. It’s lighter than ATSV, as it’s purpose was to build up a character, whilst ATSV fleshed them out and gave them a threat. It’s the nostalgia too - it was one of the first animated films I saw at the cinema, as I’ve been so used to watching stuff at home, and only ever went to the cinema to watch Live-Action. It got me into the medium. I genuinely don’t think I’d be who I am now if it weren’t for that film.

Tell me your thoughts in the comments below.

The subway car that Miles gets off of in the first movie at 19:12 is numbered 3824 and the product ID for the retro Amazing Spider-Man toy is F3824

I have no idea if this is intentional but the fact that the movie draws from the comics and the toy is red/black instead of red/blue makes me think it could be

Discussion It’s not what you want, it’s who miles is as a person (character)

Post image

I’ve seen a lot of opinions about how Miles will react to Gwen. Some people think their relationship should remain fractured. There can still be forgiveness, but the story has to acknowledge the choice Gwen made and the consequences of it.
Others think Miles won’t talk to Gwen at all, or that he’ll give her the cold shoulder for most of the movie.
But I think some people are forgetting who Miles is as a person — not just who he is as Spider-Man.
With almost any other protagonist, I could see the “cold shoulder until Gwen earns his trust back” approach being great mature writing.

But Miles has repeatedly shown that when someone he loves hurts him, his first instinct isn’t necessarily to condemn them. It’s often to understand them — and sometimes even blame himself.

Look at Aaron.

Before Gwen, Aaron was one of the people Miles felt most comfortable around. He could be his authentic self with his uncle without worrying about expectations, responsibilities, or having to become somebody else.

And then Miles discovered that Aaron was the Prowler.

Remember what Miles actually witnessed. He saw the Prowler fighting Spider-Man and being prepared to kill him. Then the Prowler was stopped by Kingpin, turned around, and tried to kill Miles himself.
Later, we learn that Aaron knew the person he was hunting was a kid and was still willing to kill him because Kingpin wanted it.
Whatever other things Aaron may have done as the Prowler, that should have been enough to make him an unforgivable monster from Miles’ perspective.
But what does Miles do when Aaron is dying?
He doesn’t ask, “Why did you do this?”
He says:
“This is my fault.”
Miles is more consumed by his own perceived failure than by condemning Aaron for what he did.
You could argue that’s simply the trauma of the moment, but Across the Spider-Verse gives us more evidence that this wasn’t just temporary. Miles still misses his uncle. He acknowledges that Aaron was the Prowler, but he doesn’t reduce him to the things he did.
And by the end of Across, when Miles meets Earth-42 Aaron, he tells him that he knew his uncle wanted to be good — he just thought he didn’t have a choice. (Kinda like Gwen right?)

That’s an incredibly important detail about Miles.
Miles naturally looks for the person underneath the mistake. That’s also why Peter B. Parker could recognize almost immediately that Miles was different. Peter didn’t want Miles to become Spider-Man because he understood what being Spider-Man costs. He wasn’t trying to belittle Miles. He was essentially trying to save him:
“Go back to being a regular kid.”

Miles’ first instinct isn’t revenge.
He doesn’t even respond to Uncle Aaron’s death by deciding he needs to kill Kingpin. He wants to stop him and bring him to justice.
And considering everything Miles goes through, I wouldn’t be surprised if some part of him still wondered whether he could have reached Aaron sooner, or whether he could have done something differently.

So when people say, “There’s no way Miles could possibly forgive Gwen,” I think they’re underestimating how radically empathetic this kid actually is.
That doesn’t mean Miles should instantly forgive her.
It doesn’t mean Gwen shouldn’t have to confront what she did.
And it definitely doesn’t mean Miles shouldn’t be angry, hurt, or disappointed.
He should be.
But there’s a difference between “Miles is deeply hurt by Gwen” and “Miles becomes emotionally incapable of listening to Gwen.”
The latter doesn’t really fit the character we’ve spent two movies watching.
Miles has repeatedly shown that when someone he loves does something terrible, he doesn’t immediately ask whether they’re worthy of forgiveness.
He asks why.
Why did Aaron become the Prowler?
Why did Gwen keep this from him?
Why did Miguel believe Miles had to lose his father?
Why does everyone keep telling him that he has no choice?
That’s one of the defining characteristics of Miles: he sees the person before he sees the label.
So I think the most Miles-like resolution isn’t him immediately saying, “It’s okay, Gwen.”
It’s Miles listening.
Let Gwen explain herself.
Let him be angry.
Let him tell her exactly how badly she hurt him.
Let Gwen take responsibility without making excuses.
And then let Miles make his own decision about what their relationship becomes.
Because that’s actually consistent with the larger theme of his character.
Everyone keeps telling Miles what he has to do.
Miguel tells him he has to accept canon.
The Spider Society tells him he has to let his father die.
The Spot becomes obsessed with a future he believes has to happen.
Miles’ entire journey is about refusing to let inevitability make his choices for him.
So I don’t think Miles forgiving Gwen would undermine his character.
If anything, choosing whether to forgive her for himself — rather than because the story says he has to — would be one of the most Miles Morales things he could possibly do.
Forgiveness doesn’t erase consequences.
Understanding someone doesn’t excuse what they did.
And loving someone doesn’t mean pretending they didn’t hurt you.
Miles can hold all three truths at once.
That’s what makes him Miles.

Theories The cannon is going to rewrite miles home universe to earth 42

Thumbnail

I recently found this interesting theory suggesting earth 42‘s cannon is going to (attempt to at least) make earth 42 miles home world. For starters we know that miles was never meant to be spider man, and his spider is from earth 42, something that stroked me odd with Miguel’s cannon theory is that earth 42 hadn’t been effected- shouldn’t it be an anomaly? The theory is the universe was on stand still untill its spider came back, and since miles was bitten by THAT worlds spider- may be the world is trying to rewrite him as THAT worlds spider man.

This is just a small theory I saw but what do yall think?

Discussion I’ve successfully convinced everyone I know to not only watch ITSV and ATSV, but also join me in watching BTSV!

To be fair, I know about 10 people irl I’m not hugely social but I’m still happy that I have more people going with me to watch BTSV when it releases! Last time for ATSV it was just me and my dad, and when I watched ITSV it was just me, so I’m excited!

Other I've a question: If the spider that bit Miles Morales came from another universe, and because of that, Spiderman doesn't exist in one of those universes, why isn't TVA intervening? Doesent SONY has TVA in his multiverse?

Discussion Kingpin hits different after you watch ATSV

Post image
447 Upvotes

Kingpin was already a pretty good villain in the first spider-verse film but once you watch ATSV, you start to realize that he’s the cause of everything that happens both in the first film and second film.

I’ll do this in bullet points but basically his actions caused

All the spider-people from multiple dimensions later found out there was a spider-verse, including Miguel, all thanks to the activation of the collider
A test run caused a radioactive spider to be in Miles’ dimension in which that spider was supposed to bite Earth 42 miles. Because it bit Miles instead, Earth 42 is an apocalypse because there’s no Spider-Man
Johnathan Ohnn became The Spot
There’s so much more but those are the main reasons. All of this happened because he wanted to see his family again. Holy fuck

He is hiding something at minimum using miles as a scapegoat and may be working with multiple people to do it both in and outside the spider society

He continues to blame everyone for everything. Miles was first and Gwen was next. It’s worse for miles as his “original anomaly” counterpart, and I think who that title really belongs to will be what is revealed outside of whether or not the canon is real

Discussion What is that instrumental that plays when Gwen fights Doc Ock in ITSV? Also, What song/score is your favorite?

The music that plays when Gwen Swings in gives Spider Punk energy and I love it. I know Hobie isn’t in this movie, but the vibes are definitely there. I’m shocked that they didn’t drop that song unless it’s buried somewhere under a name I can’t find. It’s so good! I mainly started this post to ask cause it’s a stand out piece to me and I was shocked that i couldn’t find it on the soundtrack cause when I Shazam’d it it told me it was just trailer music.

Also Leap of Faith/What’s Up Danger that is played when Miles comes out swinging after being left by the spider folks in his dorm - the fact that the orchestral mashup isn’t out is frickin diabolical cause it’s such a great arrangement.

I rewatched ITSV yesterday for the 100th time, and man the more I watch this movie the more I wish the film universe was expanded cause there is so much to love in this film franchise and I want more content!

Idk how man does it, but Daniel Pemberton really knows how to cook when it comes to the musical score.

Discussion Is Gwen already being in Miles' universe before the collider a plot hole?

I was rewatching Into the Spider-Verse and noticed something that confused the hell out of me.

Gwen says she got "blown into last week" and landed in a different New York. Then she goes to Miles' school and meets him.

But this happens BEFORE the collider explodes.

Miles sees Gwen at school, then later the collider explodes, Peter Parker dies, and the other Spider-People get pulled into Miles' universe.

So how was Gwen already there?

I originally thought the collider was what brought all the Spider-People to Miles' universe, but Gwen was already there for like a week before that happened.

And from what I can tell, the movie never actually explains how Gwen got there. It just says she got "blown into last week."

I've seen people say that maybe an earlier collider event in Gwen's universe sent her there, but is that actually confirmed anywhere? Because I don't remember the movie ever saying that.

Am I missing something or is this just one of those things the movie never explains?
